What is this?

I am with Susan.. Test breeding.. However, I am leaning towards hypo stripe, and with the Candy Cane in the mix, that it self might affect the back ground colouration, but that would be called specualtion on my part....

Thanks for the replies everyone. I will definatley keep him, do a progression and maybe test him against his mom in a year or 2.

alittle late here...

I know i'm alittle late on this one, but that snake is a spitting image of a terrazzo - and those dont just pop up in clutches from hidden genes.
To my knowledge the Terrazzo gene is from pure and verified locale Rosy Rats or Keys Corns.
All I can think is that that snake there is showing the identical expression to the Terrazzo morph but from other genetics not at all related to the current Terrazzo line.

But then again..... I could be wrong..

big pine key locale rosy rat - possible het terrazzo.

The genetics came from upper keys lines... but outcrossing over some 15 years is going to lose the keys look from the main stock.

My first thought was Terrazo, maybe with bloodred. Odds are slim, but not nonexistent. After all, all known visible recessive traits did actually originally "just pop up in clutches from hidden genes."

I'm sorry to say that I will never know what he is. He passed away last week...

That is so sad he was very lovely! I wanted to follow this thread just to see what the breeding trial turned up. I am sorry for you loss.

((hugs)) I'm sorry for your loss, Tania. I was looking forward to seeing him grown up, his progeny... I know this is a big disappointment for you.

Thanks guys. I really wanted him to grow up just to see what he would look like and of course I would have loved to see the breeding trial. I asked the previous owner if she wants to do the same pairing again next year, so maybe I have a new one next year.

Wow so sorry to hear that Tania. I hope that same pairing is done again as well. It would be great to see a cool little guy like that grow up.
