Just before i got my first snake. :crazy02:
Im over the moon its still tiny not very old maybe 4 month at most.
Me and my dad are nearly finished building a viv for it when it gets older but at the minute its just in a plastic Habibox thing with a water bowl a heat mat and a hide at the hot and cold ends.
It's on beech chips at the minute but my dad says it might need to be moved to something diferent. What is the best substrate for corns? ive seen them on all sorts of things.
I will post some pictures up later if i can find the camera

Err not to burst your bubble but it's still an untamed animal. I would suggest not "hand feeding" in the future.

Make sure to check them temp directly on the heat mat with a probe digital thermometer or temp gun. You might need a thermostat or rheostat if you don't already have one.

Maybe start out using newspaper for the first three weeks or so, that way you can easily identify poos or if there's a possible regurge in the future (not trying to jinx you or anything!) rather than having to dig through the substrate. Once the snake is established and you can see that he's having regular poos and no regurges, you could switch over to aspen bedding or something similar. I personally use hemp bedding; less dust and I like the way it smells more.

Aspen isn't that easy to get hold of here in the UK and wood chips are more common. I use bark chips - beech should be fine. Basically, avoid anything resinous like pine, as that can be poisonous to Corns over time.

It's good to start on newspaper though, just while you're getting used to what should "normally" come out the other end! Sometimes this can point the way to a health problem that you might not otherwise find out about until too late.
