New Corn Snake from the NBHS Reptile Show!

ALGeckos

Aimee & Leon
Leon and I went to the NBHS Reptile Bazaar with some of my relatives yesterday before he had work. We were on a mission to get 2 SHTCTB leopard geckos and 1 corn snake. We left with them AND a new albino african fat-tail gecko!

Since this is a corn snake-only forum, we will only be posting the pictures of our new baby Wendell. Wendell is a normal okeetee corn snake purchased from The Corn Snake Pit. He weighs in at 25 grams and is 1 year & 3 months old. Although he seemed nervous at the show, he took well to handling when he got home. He's very interested in exploring everything and hasn't even tried to bite or "rattle" his tail.

Anyway, it's picture time! These photos were taken in my uncle's backyard after we dropped Leon off to work:

We're very excited for our first corn snake! Right now, we're giving him a couple days to get settled into his home with no interruptions so he's comfortable. On Tuesday, we plan to try handling him again before feeding :D

Thanks everyone! I love his color and pattern too, he's very beautiful :) We were lucky that he shed at the reptile show, just hours before we took a picture! He's a beaut! :D

Normal Okeetee is what I was told :) I'm not too bright on the morphs since I only researched their care and husbandry. Before buying this one, I always thought this morph was beautiful from the pictures I've seen and I was lucky enough to spot him on the table :)

Well we can only assume he's been fed on an intense matinence diet.
He surely is a beautiful snake though! So get to bulking him up!

Yeah that's what my issue was in this post: http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56949&page=2&pp=10
(POST #19)

When everyone started posting their weights, I was shocked to find mine at the very lowest. He's our first ever, so we had no clue until that thread.

Rest assured, we'll take good care of him and feed him well. I don't want to overfeed him, but I'll make sure he eats appropriately (I'll be following post #20). For his weight, the mouse fuzzy has to be between 5-7 grams, so I'll be feeding him 7 grams of mouse weight at each feeding until he gains weight and it's time to change the mouse size. We're still very happy with him and we hope he does well!

Once he gets to the weight that he needs to be, we'll be posting pictures of how much he's grown :)

Very attractive.

Yeah... that is very small for a yearling. My corn is about a year, and he's over double yours. Get some mice in there. :)

Thank you :D

I started him off with TWO 2-3 gram pinkies because I accidentally bought those before I weighed him - but at 25 grams, that should be enough. In the next 5 days, he'll be on the small fuzzy and hopefully, with time, his weight will be up to average for his age :) Don't worry, I won't be powerfeeding or overfeeding - I'll just be following the Munson Plan :p

~( Discussion on the Feeding Here: http://cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57051&page=3 )~

I'm happy that he ate well and will be growing soon - and I'll be sure to post some "before & after" pictures :p

I bought a Sun Glow Motley from that breeder last year and a Butter just yesterday, and I can't recommend highly enough. Your snake is very pretty, and those are some _nice_ photos!.

 Lovely borders on your new snake's head markings, my favorite corn 'look 'is when it looks like someone's outlined their borders like that!

He's a fine example of what an okeetee should look like; I hope you will post pics as he progresses; I can't wait to see him a few months from now!
