Well Bruce isn't the only one that got a new corn today. After making about 100 laps around the show I decided to pick up this one and a half year old Okeetee female. She is a little bit over 2 ft. long. She has been bread once and apparently had a good size clutch as he was selling those too. She was really nervous and stiff at the show but she relaxes after you hold her for a few minutes. Sweet temperament. I scooped her up just in time as I handed over the $ a couple of boys exclaimed "Oh no she bought her." Bruce's son also had his eyes on her.... boy did I luck out...he is one determined boy. :)

She is gorgeous! How much does she weigh? I ask because she looks small, is young, and has already had a clutch? I am sure you will beef her up a bit though. Congrats on one stunning girl!

She's awesome!!!

She's only 1.5yrs old and she's ALREADY had a clutch? Sheesh, that's VERY young!!!! She looks way too small to me...

Anyways, congrats on your STUNNING new girl!!!

She's beautiful!! Good thing you have her now, so she can grow up before she has any more babies...I know exactly what you mean by "stiff," that really describes my Inez! Congratulations!

Thanks guys.

Yeah I was surprised she had produced a clutch too. I am not sure how much she weights yet I haven't got a scale yet but I'm planning to soon. I'll let you know when I get it. The guy had pictures of the male he mated her with (another okeetee). He was as dark and as pretty as mine but his saddles were a lot bigger and he had thicker black markings. I have a feeling those babies will be really beautiful after a few sheds. I personally wouldn't have bread her this young and I have no plans to breed her at this time.

As for her stiffness.. I have a feeling she wasn't held that often. That will change after she settles in a bit. Right now I am suffering from withdrawal.... she needs to settle in and my snow is getting dull and a bit skittish. I expect him to go blue soon so I gave him a little soak and put him back up. I see why everyone has so many corns now...a lot easier to get your daily fix!:crazy02:

She is very pretty in person. Niiiice pick-up, Kim! I didn't know she had already had been bred. She seems far too small! I would bet you bag of hoppers that she's not 200g.

I was >that< close to picking her up... if she was only a little bigger. She has a sweet face.

It was wonderful meeting you in person, too!

Wow, good thing you have her now she's clearly way too young to be breeding without strain. Fatten that girl up, I'm sure she'll be soooo happy with you :D

That is way, way to small to have bred (300g minimum). A pretty good weight for a yearling though. Makes me think the guy wasn't exactly truthful with you or you misunderstood him. Perhaps (at least I hope) by "bred" he meant "fathered" by the male he showed you. Who did you buy her from?

I am not sure who he was. He seemed to do more snake trading than actual breeding. His set up in general didn't look like the serious pro's have theirs. Unfortunately I don't think I misunderstood the guy. I saw the pictures of this really pretty okeetee on the table and when he saw me looking he said "That's the stud I used with her (nodding in the direction of my new girl...) to get this clutch here (indicating the bunch of okeetee hatchings on the table)."

Not to worry...from now on she is going to get lots of TLC. :)

He's the guy that was selling live mice, for those that were there. "Full grown adults"... the heaviest of the lot (yes, I weighed them individually) was 15g.

she looks like a nice normal to me. are you sure she's an okeetee? the borders look pretty thin and broken (not complete) at parts, but i could be wrong.
