Meet Avala...

A female '07 Lava het Anery that just arrived, today, from Joe Pierce.

She weighs in at 7 grams.

Had been wanting to get a female Lava, for a little while now, so I am just thrilled to have her.:)

I know you've been waiting a long time for a lava girl, and she was certainly worth the wait! I love my '06 male from Joe, and his near-absence of belly-checkers is cool, but I REALLY dig Avala's checkers. The "cooling magma" look of the ventral blacks on lavas really makes their trade name an appropriate one. She's awesome.

Thanks, Elle, Beth, & Dean!:)

Those belly checks are sooooo awesome!

I agree. The Lava name really is fitting.

When I first laid eyes on her, after arrival, I thought she was ~beautiful~.
Then I looked at her belly and thought ... how cool!:)

Wow... she IS something! Great pick up Deb !! I acquired my Male Lava when he was a yearling, so never really got a chance to see him as a hatchling.... super beautiful!!

Congrats!

Okay, I just had to ask..... Avala ? Pig Latin for Lava?

I really spend too much time with kids..... I gotta get out more....

OMG, look at that belly!!! She's stunning!!!!! I love her!

I have three little gems coming from Joe next week. (Couldn't take two days off in a row). So, was Avala packed nice and toasty warm? I'm _so_ worried about shipping, the weather on their end is horrendous.

Thanks, Janine, Rich, Tonya, and Nanci!:)

Close but ... nope.;)

I just got it myself!!
Avala is "a lava" spelled backward!
I feel like such a dummy :)

LOL You got it!

I told my daughter that I was naming her (the snake ;) ) Avala and my daughter said that it was a nice name & liked it. Then, after waiting a moment to see if she'd "get it" (she hadn't), I told her that it was "A Lava" spelled backwards (she liked that too).:)

Avala was packed nice. She was alert and appeared none the worse for wear.:)

Yes, it has been pretty darned cold around Joe's area.
Originally, Avala was supposed to be shipped out on Monday but it was way too cold to ship her out. Still pretty cold, over there, but shipping was able to be done last night.
I think your babies should be fine whenever they are shipped out. What are you getting?

'Grats on the lava, I agree the ventral is really cool looking.
And yep west coast weather hasn't been great. Storm after storm, with sprinkles between. Glad there was a window of opportunity to ship in there though!

Nanci -My tiny runts that I made a thread about last year were 3 and 4 grams but they were tiny, and had to eat pinky heads.
Other hatchlings weighed a little more. I'm guessing this little lava was a second clutcher and was on the smaller side when it hatched.

Thanks, Jen!:)

Mr. Bacon's future wife, a lav stripe het amel, and a male avalanche stripe, and his future wife bloodred stripe het snow. I had a stripe attack or something!

Cool, You're getting a few nice youngsters. Look forward to seeing their pics after arrival.:)

7 grams- EEK!!! How much do they weigh when they hatch, anyway??

There is a fair range, on how much they may weigh, when hatched.
Anywhere from 3 +/- grams on up to something over 10 grams.
I would think that the average would be somewhere between 5-8 grams.

Deb you've got a Great looking Girl there! Cool name! I'm glad you finally got one.:cheers:

Thanks, Tom! I am one happy gal right now.:)
