Hey there wonderful people of cornsnakes.com!

I joined a little over a week ago, but being as busy as I am, I am posting now :]

Anywho, I just got my first cornsnake [the same day I joined here]... actually my first snake ever! He, and I say he based on his tail shape only at this time, is quite awesome! I fell inlove with him the moment I laid eyes on him at the pet store... whilst picking of cat food of all things lol. After about a week of contemplation I bit the bullet and bought him :] [This was a plan since July when visiting a very good friend and meeting her new snake].

So I have named him Leland [love it! lol] or as we like to call him Dr. Gonzo ...10 points to anyone who gets the reference :] He is a baby, not quite sure how old because I am a tool and didn't ask, but if length is any kind of indicator he is approx 12" to 14" long and gorgeous... a lovely bright red albino? cornsnake, not sure what else, motley? I don't know but check out the attached, albeit crappy, photos [hopefully they're not too large :/ ].

Ok so this is quite long and rambly so I'll stop now lol :]

Hi :wavey: welcome to the forum

Leland is a gorgeous red albino. Or as they are more often called, amel. That is short for amelanistic, lack of black pigment.

That's the term I was searching for and drew a blank on lol Thanks for that and the welcome of course!

yes he is amel! and to me it does not seem he is motley. could be wrong..

welcome to the forum though!!!

hey!
He doesn't look motely to me either, but you can tell for sure if he has no belly checkers. In a plain amel, he'll have faded yellowish belly checkers.

he's cute, welcome!

Thank you all for the welcomes and the info ...From what you guys are saying I don't think he's motley either as he does have a slight checkering to his belly. I'm still new to all the terminology on these lil guys ...lol way too many varieties :]

Quick question, what do the numbers mean in your signatures for your snakes? ie. 0.1, 1.0 etc etc.

they mean the gender of the snake for instance,

1.0 = male
0.1 = female
0.0.1 = unknown

so in my case, i have 3 males, so i would say i have 3.0 corns hope that helps
