Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.

Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....

Please be certain that the location field is correctly filled out when you register. All registrations that appear to be bogus will be rejected. Which means that if your location field does NOT match the actual location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected.

Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.

SIGNATURE AREAS (For the 114th Time)

Signature areas must not exceed four lines, and blank lines count. As far as I know, the sig area banners do not fall under this rule.

I don't like wasting my time PMing the multitudes who don't comply with the rule, so if you are not in compliance, please fix your sig area asap. This is the admin's rule, not the mods' rule, so there's really no room for discussion or negotiation. He owns the site.

4 lines, eh? hummm, one line per snake. Obviously, I need another snake.

Because there is room for one more in my signature.

Flimsiest excuse for getting another snake, ever.

But that is your limit no more snakes after 4. And you can not even breed them if you want. LOL:rofl:

Now if we all did that we would have surpassed that limit a LOOOONG time ago, Right Dean? ;)

You could enact a 1-day ban for non-compliance, and just ban someone whenever you see it. You wouldn't need to go looking for it. I don't know how much hassle it is to ban people for the mods, but I'm sure if there were some consequence (since asking people nicely isn't working), people would watch each others' backs and tell each other more, and you'd also get immediate compliance.

Just a suggestion. Could be a bad one. :shrugs:

That's actually a great suggestion, Stephanie. But I think it would create a bunch of work that I'm not eager to perform. I don't think people blatantly defy the rule, or refuse to comply when asked nicely. Newer members just don't bother reading the rules, and established members may have missed past pleas and ignored the stickied threads that state the rule.

Probably the easiest solution would be to edit or delete the non-compliant sig areas myself. That may be the route I end up taking from now on. I could replace their sig area material with a link to one of the many stickied threads that state the rule, so there would be no question as to what had happened or why.

Well Dean, without over stepping our bounds would it be helpful to you if when ever we saw people posting like that if we polietly sent an IM with the rule link? Not playing police on everyone, but if each member helped one rule breaker I think it would make a difference...

Test, this is a test. Had this been an actual emergency ….

Just wanted to see my signature

Well, I'm not going to stop you if you feel like doing it, but be prepared. People don't like being modded by mods-- and they seem to find it particularly distasteful when they are modded by non-mods.

This isn't the biggest issue in the world. In fact, I really don't care that much about it personally. However, I think it's good that there's a limit on sig lines. I mean, it would be highly annoying if everyone cut and pasted the first chapter of their favorite book into their sig area, or posted a complete one-animal-per-line list of their 100 pets in their sigs. So I think a limit's good, and the admin has specified that that limit is four. It's his site. Honestly, I feel like the junior high hall monitor who takes his job too seriously every time I bring it up. BUT, since we've enforced this rule in the past, it really wouldn't be fair to the people who were warned and then complied if we ignore other members who are not complying today...

That's where I'll step in and lend my support. It's simple really. The owner of the site has asked people to follow a pretty darn simple directive. Just as some may think it's a stupid rule, I think it's pretty stupid that it can't be followed. :shrugs:

Kick 'em out!! That's what I say . . . Just Kidding . . . no, seriously, kick 'em out!!! Okay, no, I like the idea of replacing their sig line with a link to the thread explaining the rule. Here's an idea for you!! Give Jeff Mohr (of "Mohr in '08" fame ) specific responsibility for that one item and you no longer have the policing headache and he's a junior-mod!! :sidestep:

MohrSnakes for Junior Moderator in 08? :shrugs:

Not quite my idea of getting a badge and gun and being a cop of cornsnakes.com. Seems more like a movie theater or mall security guard....:sidestep:
