LOCA for corn snakes !!!
Ok I have a really nice piece of sandblasted twisted grapevine in my viv. It does have natural holes in it that go through the center of it (not holes that he could hide in , just pass through) My question is...will a corn go through a hole with its narrow head if its body is too wide for the hole? In other words has anyone ever had a snake go through a hole and get its body stuck half way through? He is fine now slithering through but when he gets bigger will I have to seal them? Id just like to know before I have an oopsie!:)

Corns have an amazing ability to get into places (or out of places) they shouldn't be able to get in or out of, but it's always better to be safe than sorry, right? :)

Ok so very soon I will have to seal the holes up I guess. He really likes to climb through them :(

What should I use to seal them up that wont be toxic?

err.... yes, and that was a very embarrassing visit to the vet!

I'd put an upside-down earthenware flowerpot in as a hide, and made the drainage hole bigger as the entrance.

So Pumpkin scoffs his next meal and goes looking for somewhere warm to digest. A flowerpot! Ideal... Only I'd made the hole big enough for him - not him+freshly-swallowed mouse. I greased him with cooking oil and left him to try wriggling free, but he plainly wasn't going to manage it.

The vet looked at me a bit funny, then just took a chisel to the pot and broke it off him.

 So how much did the vet charge for using the chisel :)

I'm glad this was included in the WIR, as I missed it first time round, and that story made me smile, well laugh actually, so thanks :D

Best wishes,

Hahahha Thats funny:laugh:(ok not really funny after the vet bill Im sure)... when I got my snake (about 3/4 weeks ago) he came to me with an upside down earthenware flowerpot! He BARELY fit through the drainage hole on a regular day. I knew that once I fed him he wouldnt fit.

Thank God I took it out, as I wasnt sure if he would know he wouldnt fit or not. I am so glad I did!:D
