New here! With a cute snake <3

Hello, it was recommended that I visit this site by someone on www.ultimatebettas.com and havn't got around to joining until now. n___n I have one snake, we don't know the sex so we named it Sasha. It's sort of interesting how we found Sasha. I woke up one morning and BAM! Corn snake in my face. My neighbor had found it in her home and my uncle (who I live with) brought it to me, knowing I liked animals. I've always wanted a snake but never got one, my mom/aunt never approved of one. So no snake for me... until now! >:3

It just so happened that we had a 20gal with locking lid and a red bulb light lying around after my sisters turtlre died. (UGH long story, involving a turtle owner who knew nothing of turtles and ended up giving me the turtle when it was sick/ready to fricken die) SO! After some hastey research, we set things up and kept Sasha on paper towels for about a week. Then it turns out that my other neighbor has a lot of reptiles and some leftover reptile things, mostly hides and stuff. So we set up the tank with aspen bedding and now Sasha is happy and healthy. Sasha was veeeery thirsty when we first got her/him and his/her sheds where not very uniform, sort of flakey. But now (and I'm so proud of Sasha) the sheds are in one big piece and Sasha eats thawed out pinkies once weekly. Sasha is very friendly and I handle him/her almost every day. Very friendly. :3 Anyway, here are some recent pictures of Sasha! Would anymore mind telling me what Sashas color pattern is called?

Congratulations on your wild caught :) (maybe an escapee :shrugs:) classic corn snake... Sasha is a good name for an unsexed snake.
For how long have you had him/her? Even though you did not mention, I assume you have an UTH, right?
There are tons of information here and it will take you months to be able to read the most informative threads... I would start by the Husbandry and Basic Care stickies.
Welcome and keep the pictures coming because people here love to see them.

Well, the UTH is something I'm saving up for. For now, I have a heating pad under the tank. It's not the best, I know. It never gets too hot, I check it daily. Still not the best, but I'm saving up so I'll get a UTH asap.

And yeah, I'm assuming it got away from someone. Might even be the same person whose rat got away from them, who I also now have. It's definitly not a wild rat so we caught her and take care of her now.

Welcome Vicky from another new member!

Sounds like an escape to me as I almost positive corn snakes are native to the south eastern and central US. No matter, Sasha is beatiful and am thrilled she's eating and shedding well. Great job and enjoy!

Hi Vicky

I'm also new here and to owning a corn. Sasha is very beautiful, looks very comfortable and friendly around you.

Hey!! congrats on a great find and congrats on getting him/her to eat and shed regularly!!

Welcome! Enjoy the forum, and your adorable new addition. Yes, everything you've heard about the addiction is true - but it's all quite wonderful. Enjoy!
