Brumation Question

This is the first time I have put my snake into brumation. My female is about 4 ft long & 331 grams. Would this be heavy enough? Shes in blue right now. Should I go ahead & do it after she sheds. Or try to put another feeding in her? Thanks for everyones help.

She is definately big enough. The most important thing is to make sure she has digested and passed any food you give her before putting her down, as the undigested food in her gut can rot and kill her.

My kids are due to eat just once or twice more (depending on the snake) and go down the first week of December.

I was going to make this my last week of feeding since the male is 304 grams and almost 5 ft. long. He just shed and was hungry figured I'd feed this week then wait till they come out of Brumation. My other females are all over 400 grams and close to same length so was a little worried in the weight difference. And since shes in Blue she would miss the last feeding. Thank you for the help.

If your male is 5 feet long and 304 grams then he is really thin, like dangerous thin. You need to put more weight on that guy.

He is probably more like 4 1/2 feet, he has been fatting up I got these guys as a packaged deal and the first time I fed him he regurgitated 4 days later tried again with a hopper he kept that down then 3 days after that gave him an adult mouse that was 3 days ago and he has pooped 3 times within last week. I have only had them about 2 weeks. But he does look thin to me and I wasn't going to put him in to brumation unless he gained wait.

I would not brumate any animal that isn't to weight. That male sounds excessively thin and if he's regurgitated then I definitely wouldn't. the other thing is that they should be quarantined. You can do this in brumation if you want, but I'd make sure you don't brumate an existing snake in the same place you're brumating these. Normally after regurgitation you should wait at least 10 days before offering a very small food item. Then wait again and offer another small food item. Feeding too soon after regurgitation can lead to more regurge and feeding too quickly can also lead to problems. I'd wait at least a week between feedings. They can't digest a full mouse in 3 days fully. They'll need at least 3 weeks of no food before brumating as well.

As I stated in previous thread if he wasn't up to weight I wasn't going to bruminate. I weighed him today he is up to 340 grams. When I first weighed it was day I got him, I think he was dehydrated and he was in shed the guy told me he fed every Sunday but not the Sunday before he shipped (shipped on Monday)and the previous Sunday the male had refused (he was in shed)I now know that I should have waited to feed after regurgitation but he has ate twice since then and is doing well. And this is my first year breeding so I purchased as proven adults and so is separate from my two other corns. I thank you for any knowledge and welcome your input in my new adventure.
