What classifys a corn to be "pied sided"? I have a bloodred that has some white on her sides and a very light color is she pied? Is it genetic or line bred? If I breed her with her brother who has not white on the side I would have granites, fires, hypo bloods and bloods all het pied! It is giveing me a head ache thinking about it.....someone explain. The corns were sold ot me as 1.1 bloodreds 100% het fire, 66% het granite, and 50% het hypoblood. The female is extreamly light and has the pied look and the male is darker and looks bloodred. I am confused. I don't really care either way but I would like to just lean about pieds a little bit. The pics of the corn are uploading now.

EDIT: I am not in it for money at all just figureing out what the deal is.
 
Your problem is the money side of things....
Just do it for the love of the animals and what you get out of it as a keeper....
Money is the last reason to breed....
I breed to prove to myself that my animals are healthy...
I can do everything by the book and believe they are healthy, but successful breeding proves it to me....
 
Not really for money Mike. I guess I worded that wrong. I don't plan on selling the pair but I plan of marketing her babies. I am just here to learn. I am not breeding for the money trust me. A breeder friend of mine says it takes years to get profit from breeding.
 
David I am going to stop answering your posts if you keep changing them after you have asked a question..... Thats not fair on people who answer your original post is it....

OK, like I said I don't care either way I just want to learn about the pied gene itself. I surely will add it to mmy genetic melting pot at some point (but not until I add terrazzo!)

Ture. Like I said I don't care about the genetics. The snake is my best feeder and a great little snake, I am sure she will be a nice breeder. Now if ANYTHING is possible I want to see a pitch black corn.
 
My personal pet hypothesis is that Pied is a polygenic trait with variable amounts of expression depending upon the number of genes contained in the animal. It's a decent explanation of why two low-expression snakes can produce extreme pied offspring.

*edit to add* So you don't care about the money, and don't care about the genetics either? Then what exactly ARE you wanting to know?????

I would like to see a pitch black corn also. That would be interesting. I'm not so sure about how possible it is right now.

On another note, I know that I backed you up a lot on your heralds thread. but moving posts to your personal room is not the way to get answers. You may not like the answers that Mike gives you, but learn from his knowledge instead of, when he tells you something that seems abrasive, moving the thread to a room where you have the power to lock it. That's not a very mature thing to do. Its also not a great way to learn from other people.

This is what I'd been thinking in terms of the genetics. It'll be interesting in a few years when we (hopefully) determine the exact science behind it.
