    Is This Normal???

Just found this in my bull snake's water bowl ...definately doesn't look right to me. I don't know what to think of it, but if it's a digestion problem, it isn't because of the temperatures. I check the temps very frequently. Please help!! Thanks

    ESCAPE!!!

Acorn escaped last night or early this morning! I turned the hole room upside down and didn't find him. He definately could have left the room under the door, but how far would he go? I set out plastic bags along the walls to hopefully wake me up if he moves them, and I will put tape or yarn...

    Acorn!!!

Here are the first decent pictures of Acorn the reverse okeetee corn. It's actually really hard to photograph him since he's so active. He never sits still long enough to focus on him!

    A Word of Warning

Just a few minutes ago, while handling Acorn, I spotted a tick crawling up the side of the enclosure. He wasn't full of blood, so he hadn't been latched on to my snake, but he could have. I think he must have been in the bag of aspen. Other than that, I don't see how else he could have gotten...

    Bull Snake Question

I've had my cb yearling bull snake for a couple months now. He has never struck at me, and sits in my hand fine. But as soon as I try to move him around or redirect him, he hisses a LOT. I hold him every day except for after feeding, but am not seeing too much improvement with the hissing...

    Anyone Use This?

http://www.hydrofarm.com/pb_detail.php?itemid=3372 Does anyone use this thermostat? It seems a lot better than the zilla or zoomed ones, but cheaper than helix or herpstats. Any reason why this couldn't work for basking lamps as well as heat mats? Thanks!

    Nose Rubbing

I frequently find my cornsnake rubbing his nose on the sides of the tub. I can't see any evidence of a health problem, but how long would this have to go on to cause a problem? Or is it not something to worry about since the sides are very smooth? Thanks!

    Need Some QUICK answers!

I am leaving for 4-5 days starting tomorrow, and need a question answered tonight please. I live in an old house, and the air conditioner does not keep up very well in weather over 90 degrees. Most of the house will probably get too hot, except the bathroom. It gets cooler in there if the...

    Toad Questions!!

I'm thinking about expanding my collection with some toads. I made a custom wood enclosure that's 25" by 12.5", and based on what I have read, that is an appropriate size for either one cane toad or two american toads. Can anyone that has toads back that up? Also, I will be going to a...

    Nocturnal or Diurnal?

Some places say corn snakes are diurnal, while others claim them to be nocturnal. Which are they? Acorn seems to be active whenever he feels like it, night or day. Just earlier today, I walked in on him exploring his home. He kept moving around for 20 mins plus before I left. But during the...

    Do Snakes Sense Weather Changes?

I just handled one of my snakes, and he was quite a bit more irritable than usual. There is a thunderstorm coming through the area, and was wondering if snakes could act differently during stormy weather. Does anyone else notice any changes in their snakes during storms?

    First Pics of... ACORN!!

Here are the first pics of my adopted reverse okeetee corn. (Yes, I named him acorn. :laugh01:) These were just a couple quick ones. I will get some nice ones later in the week.

    Coffee Smell?

I finally picked up my new corn yesterday! (Pics soon to come) I made a hide box out of a coffee container a couple weeks ago, and it still smells like coffee. I tried to get the smell out, but nothing worked completely. The smell couldn't harm the snake, could it? Coffee is natural, so I...

    My View on Heating

Before I say anything, I just want to make it clear that I am just posting MY VIEW on heating snakes. I'm not saying anyone is wrong or my method is better than anyone else's. Whatever method allows you to keep happy and healthy snakes is appropriate in my opinion. :) I prefer the use of...

    What's the True Average?

All over the internet, the only answer to the question "What is the size of an average corn snake?" is 3-6 feet. 3-6 feet isn't an average, it's a range! So to the people who have owned dozens of these snakes, what is your opinion on the average length of a corn snake?

    Upside Down Snake?

 This morning when I went into Pete's (my bull snake's) cage, at first I could not find him. Then I saw a bump underneath the repticarpet. I pulled the carpet up, and found him laying down there upside down! Being exposed, he rolled himself back over, and I picked him up. He acted...

    Is This Tub Appropriate?

I am a bit limited on space and budget, and decided to make a tub for the corn snake that I will soon own. The goal of it is not to be pretty ;), but to be cheap and functional. The pictures are attached. The tub itself is a 90 qt sterilite, with dimensions of 30 L x 12 W x 12 H. I like to...

    Hello Everyone!

Hello from NC. I've owned a few reptiles and amphibians in the past, such as anoles, ribbon snakes, and a tree frog, but am just getting into the "larger species". I currently own a 09 bull snake, and will soon own a 3 year old reverse okeetee corn. The corn snake I am actually getting for...
