    Tesseras questions

Am I understanding this correctly? Tesseras are dominant. A het tessera is visually the same as a homozygous tessera. Can a het be visually seen as a het or appears the same as the homozygous?

    Brumating

I know I've probably asked before, but do you all feel brumating is necessary. I like the time of not feeding but I would think a little extra food at this time of year would give me strong females to have eggs. What do you say?

    Slugs

Ok, so I have been breeding my corns for about 4 years now and always a litttle more growth on them every year. I've never had more than 2 or 3 slugs per clutch in the past. This year I had two females go with really smaller than normal clutches and at least 7 slugs per clutch. Is it normal...

Female with eggs and odd swelling

This female has laid for me before and I have never noticed this before. She has a swelling right before her vent that looks like a bound up egg. I've had this happen to another female in the past so I know what egg binding looks and feels like. I can feel around 20 eggs in this girl but the...

    Variable breeding season?

I have always bred my corns around this time of the year. I was wondering if you can use the same males that you would use now for females that are a little on the small size now later in spring or even summer.

Can you breed female after aspirating a large egg

Last year I had a butter female that had a very large first egg when laying. In the end after waiting I realized it needed to be aspirated. All went well, she laid the remainder and seems very healthy and unaffected this year. She was not a small female, but I wonder about breeding her this year.

Brumating and female size for breeding

Do most of you breeders brumate for 8 weeks? Do some of you go longer or less? Last year I went without food but with heat for 2 weeks. Then went for 8 weeks of dark and cool. Next question I would like to ask is if a 281 gm female is too small for breeding or close enough to the 300 gms...

Would this cross provide a combination of both in the third generation? If picked properly would they provide nice patterns or at least better than most?

Could someone post an adult caramel

I was wondering if someone could post a photo of an adult caramel. Had purchased a pair of motley (which they are not) Het. butters when my son and I first started buying some corns. They are still destined to be bred together just to see what they are, but right now I think they seem to look...

    Rodent raising and odor

Now I have been thinking about raising mice (maybe rats) in my garage for our corns and ball pythons. I was able awhile back to look after a friends rodent rack while he was getting married. I get how to build it. I noticed that when the rack was moved to my garage that the mice realized they...

    Regurg

In the past two weeks I have had 3 of my yearling corn snakes regurg. I had upped the food size a little, but I had seen them eat this size in the past. I usually try larger food items and then go back to the smaller size a few times to be sure they can handle it. Anyway, I had also lowered...
