Where do you put your corn snake to feed it?

If you don't want to remove the snake for feeding, you can also use something like newsprint or the brown paper which is used for packaging as a barrier over the aspen. Do keep an eye on your snake when it's eating. A flake of aspen now and then isn't likely to cause problems, but it is possible...

    underweight snake?

She looks healthy. She may have hatched out on the small side, perhaps from a smaller egg. Sometimes young females or those with huge clutches lay eggs of smaller size. That's not any indication of future size or health of the babies. They'll grow and thrive with regular, appropriate size...

Excited to be part of this group

Welcome to the hobby! We love corn snakes and you're going to love having one - eventually, once you get it of course. Do try and find a baby who's going to have the best chance of thriving. Don't fall for the thought that you can save those teensy tiny ones at expos who are soooo cute. They are...

    Weird "biting" behavior

it does sound like your snake was on a so-called maintenance diet before he came to you. A scale is the best way to know what size to feed him, but it sounds like you can it's safe to go with about 1.5 times the width of your snake at his thickest point.

    Halo Corn Snakes

That's a great question. I've noticed both of these shades occur in both sexes, which was something I initially wondered.

    Creamsicle that wont eat

Your snake is definitely the age when many males first display feeding strikes related to hormones. What had his activity level been like? How does he look physically? Usually with hormone driven fasting, they do a lot of prowling and (somehow) don't lose much condition.

Wow, what very good luck you and your snake had! That certainly could have had a very different ending.

    Thinking about everyone, Hurricane Idalua

I know that "thoughts and prayers" has become a more than meaningless phrase. But tonight my thoughts and prayers are so very much about all those in the path of Hurricane Idalia; the people, their animals, the wild things and the natural areas. So much about to be ravaged. Complicating my...

Eggs laid on Days 428 & 429; sperm retention

Those who have noted my hopes for more babies from Artephius, my handsome Diffused Caramel male from Serpenco, may remember me saying that I hadn't bred him in years. I really had my fingers crossed that he was still fertile, and was delighted to get viable eggs from his pairings this year...

Snitch & Big Smile, Butter Stripes

This pair of Butter Stripe sisters enjoyed their outing in the nice weather. They also seemed to enjoy checking each other out! They're neighbors so they might see each other through their vivs, but they don't normally interact. Hubby Dan said he could tell them apart. I took these pics to...

Produced by Rich Zuchowski, I got this handsome guy when Rich decided to get out of breeding. He's gotten a bit darker in the years I've had him, but he remains one of my all-time favorites.
