    09 baby eating bi-weekly

We have three 09 babies, and the oldest is the smallest. At best she is eating every other week. She has been eating F/Ts, and turned it down again this weekend. Should I worry about her not eating enough (I already am!)? At what point do I "force" feed (stick the pinkie in her mouth).

    Positive Report, and lessons learned!

We got our baby corn snake in 4 weeks ago. She ate one time, and then got loose. After that she was in two different temp tanks. During this time she would not eat. We finally settled her down in a show box tub. Did not move it or her, and did not handle for the entire week. Offered a F/T...

Feeder size in relation to snake size

I know about the lump after eating, but that is hindsight. Is there a chart or percentage value for feeding? A Ball Python should get 10-15% of it's weight it feeder size. Does this also hold true for Corns?

    Handling Corn Snakes

I have seen that all hatchlings and some adults are squirmy. I am raising a 09 hatchling now. Can I assume that the more I handle her, the more likely she will get used to it? How much handling is two much? I am also sure that large breeders don’t have time to handle all the babies. True or false?

    My Little Girl

Julie is not quite 8 weeks old, and been here less than one week. I had to take this picture when I saw her sticking out her head. There is a maze of tunnels in the aspen bed. Enjoy those while she can!

How long after transport to eat?

My 7 week old corn arrived last Thursday (11 June). Can I expect her to eat two days later? She had been eating every week, and Saturday would have been feed day, but she turned down a pinkie. When should I try again? Poor little girl has had one heck of a week already.

    UTH size & Placement.

My large UTH only fits underneath the tank in the long ways direction, when doing so; it’s at 55% of the length, and only 50% of the width. If I place in a back corner; there will open space in the front, and on one side. It covers 35% of the available surface area. Is this OK, or should I...

    Hatchling Substrate

Research has already show Aspen as the best substrate, but what about very very young snakes, born in April. Do these youngsters need something different? :shrugs:
