    Age ?

Is there any way to tell age by lenght or weight ? We rescued Steve-o from a local pet store in December. They did not know his age. He weighted 40 grams then and his shed was 28 inches long. His weight on 5/14/10 was 136 grams and he shed 5/19/10 and his shed measured 37 1/2. We are feeding...

    Humidity

The humidity in my viv stays around 25- 30%. I want to raise it to 40-50%, as I've seen recommended here. I only use a UTH, no bulbs of any kind. I think it's because it's cold here in Pa. and with the forced air heat it's drying things out. I mist twice a day, but worry that the substrata will...

    Size question

On 12/10/09 Steve-o weighed 40gr. he shed yesterday and his shed measured 28in. To me he seems awful skinny and I was wondering if any one could tell me if his weight and length are proportionate. Would these measurements give a clue to his age ? We have no idea when he was hatched. Thanks as...

    Is this normal ?

We noticed on Sunday 12/13 that Steve-o was in blue. I put a humid hide in his viv that he totally ignored all day Sunday. Monday morning he was in his humid hide and has not come out since. I posted on Sunday ( I think it was Sunday ) and ask about sheds since this is our first one with Steve-o...

    Humidity

Steve-o just went into blue. My question is what range should I keep the humidity at in his viv ? I put in a humid hide which he has yet to use. I plan to cover the warmer half with saran wrap to keep in the humidity. I'm just not sure what level to keep the humidity at. This is our first shed.

    Curious

Does any body else have a corn that likes to sleep above the viv floor ? Steve-o sleeps in a bush about 10 inches above the floor. I have triple checked the temps at ground level and under substratta and they are within limits on both sides. He is a climber and loves to slither on all his above...

    First feed failure

Last night I attempted my first feed with my new corn snake. It did not go well at all. It has been a week since I got him. Waited for him to get over the stress of the move. Any way last night I thawed a large pinky for him and he was just not interested at all. I jiggled it in front of him and...

    confused

Getting a 20 gal long All Glass Critter Cage tomorrow for my corn. I have read to cover 1/4 to 1/3 of the bottom with a UTH. So far no problems I understand that I get confused when it comes to wattage. The tank is approximately 30 inches long and 15 inches wide. That means my UTH would have to...

    UTH and Thermostat

We just got our first corn snake last week He is housed in a 10 gallon aquarium now, but later this week I am getting him a 20 gallon long Critter Keeper. My question is what size UTH to get to heat the larger tank. Should a UTH cover half the underside of the tank ? I am in Pa. so it is cold...
