A couple new additions...

My name's Blurryface...
Here are a couple new additions to go with my previously posted critters.

First up is a sweetie from John at Colorado Corns.

A more bird's eye angle showing her dorsal...

StripedButter-4-19-2013-2.jpg

I've got to figure out how to keep the flash from washing out her eyes, if possible. She gets to play with my male tessera that's het butter motley. I'm a junkie for nice, clean jungle/striped leopard geckos and that gene plays somewhat similar to the motley/stripe combo in corns so it'll be fun to see what pops.

Speaking of leopard geckos, this next one was a critter I traded a few leos for with a local pet store. Looks the be a little male (spunky at that too) and was produced by a local breeder. I couldn't pass up on his coloration, especially at his age. He was CB last year and fuzzies leave an ever so slight bulge in him.

I've officially gotta stop with these guys. Back in late Feb all I had were 3 and I'm now up to 8. The only rationale I can seem to give myself is the fact that I get the OK from my wife and that corns were a childhood favorite that I'd always hoped to find when I lived in SC as a kid.

Very nice critters. What's interesting is that your shots are taken on the famous "SerpenCo Blue" background. Rich was the only one that I can remember that took pics. on that background color and these remind me alot of back when he was in the game.

Thanks fo sharing.

Thanks everyone! Right now the only question marks in the "corn field" is what my motley snow and anery are. I'm not one to pop or probe, particularly young snakes, so it's a patience game to getting size on 'em. Too bad they aren't as easy to sex as hognose when young. The only one I need to find a mate for outside of those 2 is my adult granite. I know no genetic history behind her other than her phenotype. I wouldn't mind a nice cayenne fire het anery for her though.

Walter...I remember Rich's site back when I was in high school in the late 90s. Back then I use to have ProExotics and Blue Chameleon Ventures mail out me their pricelist too. I might even have a couple of them stashed somewhere. The blue background thing came recommended to me by Albey Scholl (Albey's Too Cool Reptiles) and Kelli Hammack as the best option to showcase orange in "old school" tangerine leopard geckos, pre-Ray Hine line hypos and carrot-tails. I even went as far as what camera (Nikon Coolpix series) for the best ability to capture such. Back then I used a Coolpix 4500, successor to the CP 700/800/900 series. I now use a Nikon D300 coupled with an SB800 and SB600. The photos here and in my previous post of other corns were taken using either my Nikkor 60mm f/2.8 micro or 35mm f/1.8. I use a WhiBal neutral gray card to set my gray, white, and black points for an accurate white balance.

Speaking of photos, here's some non-corn stuff just for giggles from earlier today before I disappeared for work.

KennerlyiM-4-20-2013.jpg

Male Mexican Hognose...WC 2006 approximately 50ft from....

KennerlyiF-4-20-2013.jpg

Female Mexican Hognose...WC 2004.

Both are locality-specific animals from Hidalgo County, NM.

Harquahala-4-20-2013.jpg

"The Sausage" as she's known here. A sweetheart of a Harquahala Mnts Rosy Boa. I need a male for her.

And some 4-legged freaks...

PtenopusM-4-20-2013.jpg

Barking Gecko...an all of ~3 inches.

1:1 macro, I love my 60mm.

FWIW...ignore the typo in the photo background for the hognose...need to fix that and spaced out.

Yeah, that background color seems to be pin-point of what Rich used. I used to always use a royal blue colored liner in my deli cups. It seems that any kind of blue background really shows of the snakes coloration much better for some reason.

Ahhh, the old Nikon Coolpix 4500 swivel body. That's what I still use for all of my pics. I'm really thinking about moving up to a DSLR though, just not sure which one.
I do know that it will be a Nikon. In my personal opinion Nikon is top of the line.

I tried digging through some old external HDs to see if I'd saved any photos from Rich's site, but I think they may be on a CD or, gasp, a 3.5" floppy. However, I did find this....see attachment, Comcast's FTP is screwy...

Something I klepto'd from back in the day when is was "cool" for everyone to link their favorite site's banner on their own page.

And since I'm digging through files...me holding Heloderma horridum horridum (aka Fernando...the one cradled) and Heloderma horridum exaspertatum back in 2001 at Bob Applegate's place. I remember holding Fernando (he's a little puppy) and Bob saying, "here hold this one, she's more friendly," and she trying to bite me while Bob stole my camera for the pic. (I'm 40 pounds heavier, sans glasses and the stalker haircut now)

I, too, still have my Nikon CP 4500. I even have the flash bracket and es-900 hotshoe cord. I've put the SB600 on it, but I fear the SB800 might be too powerful. I also have my D70 that my wife insists she's going to use to get back into photography with. :duck:
