Don't trend on me...
I have just bought a 15 gallon 5 inches wide and 20 inches long tank for my new baby corn, and I also bought a fancy heat lamp wich allows you to turn on an ifanred light at night, which is red so the snake thinks its dark, and an altra violent light thingy. I can Switch both of the lights on and off, and I can gave both goin at the same time. Anyway... the humidiy is low and is only about 50-63 % humidity, and it should be higer, I put stuff on top of the tank so the Humidity can't escape, and I put in some wet weeds as well, but since we live in a dry house, it has trouble gaining humidity. What can I do to fix this problem of low humidity?

Hi Cody, you really don't help yourself with your posts...are you out to wind everyone up or are you for real...Have you really put "wet weeds" in.
MIKE

Hey Cory you seem like a nice kid, let me give you a heads up this poll has been done and reserected many times. Old poll reserection is why most of us hate polls. Know you can't get rid of this now, but for the futre do a search first and please limit the polls.

Why wouldn't you if you were bored.. Read your post you could research all of that in two minutes ...easy....and the wet weeds bit is a bit off ... Your spelling is off, there is a spell check..
Try harder if you want replies..

I'd like some actuall help on the question I asked, not negitive off qustion comments, feel free to answer my Question

OK Cody, im not sure about "Wet weeds", so id take them out. To help keep humidity up yo could spray once a day. Try keeping the water container on the warm side. Im not sure on your heating set up. Have you got a Thermostat and thermometer?

Yes I have a thermosat and Humidity thingy, they work preety good, the heating on the warm side is... 82 degrees F, And the cool side is 76 degrees F, wich is fine, but I have to keep a heater goining in my room cause it gets cold in our house because today the highs about 20 degrees F and the low in the single digits, plus our huge heater down stairs is broken. Ty for the advise Dj freebase

Because of the cold I think all of the Microorganisms would be dead on the weeds, it's been like this for more than a mounth, Should I still get rid of the weeds, he likes hiding in them...

Well actually mate, there's nothing wrong with your humidity, and it doesn't need to be higher unless he's in shed.

Also, Corn snakes don't need UV light.

But I agree with Mike, matching a question about humidity with a poll about how many Corn snakes do you have (which has been done many times, not that you know, just saying), isn't really a good idea.

A good idea is to use the search function to see if similar threads have been posted before, which I'm sure they have regarding this particular issue.

I hope that helps

David

So you have a thermostat regulating the lamps?
Or do you have an undertank heater as well?

What kind of thermometer are you using to measure the temps is it a stick on or one with a probe? The stick ons are highly inaccurate just so you know.

Um... When I had my last snake I used the stick ons, they're are quite inacurate your right, my stick on said it was 70 degrees F, yet the brand new thermoniter said it was 83 degrees F... I still have the undertank heater, though it's not plugged in... I thought thermosat was just another name for thermoniter, so the thermosat is really just a thermoniter guage, so is the humidity thing. The lamps are regulating the Temps

A thermometer measures the temperatures and tells you what they are. Digital ones are the most accurate.

A thermostat is a device that monitors and controls the temperature, so the temperature you want is the temperature you get. I'd advise you get one ASAP. Warm side temps should be 80 - 85 and cool side should be 70 - 75. You'll have a thermostat in your house to control your central heating.

Just remember that this is the last time I'm helping you, these are fundamental errors, and you should have learnt how to care for your Corn BEFORE buying him.

Here's some pictures so you can tell the difference between the two (top one is a thermostat and bottom one is a digital thermometer):

I have a temperature gauge, and the fancy lamp, so do I really need a thermosat? And also, I'm just asking questions that my Corn Snake book doesen't cover, I used to have a snake named Troy, for about six mounths before he escaped, so I do have at least some experience with snakes, I also had a pet snapping turtle named Snapper, but I cought him in the wild, and so he wouldn't eat so I had to relese him to the pond I found him in. Also, I have read about herps and animals since I was eight, So I know some stuff about snakes: Examples, Herpetology, Science of Reptiles and Amphibians. Reptiles and Amphibians were originaly classifed togeter; in the same genera or family, not sure...

So if you've had a snake already shouldn't you already have your feet wet?
Of course that one got away...hope you have this one better secured.

How hot is your thermometer reading? And are you *still* using stick ons? You never answered that.

No he's not using stick-ons anymore, he said his warm side reading was 83F :)
