Pragmatic & Logical
Hubby is helping me make a PowerPoint presentation about corns - primarily their history in captivity, how we got where we are today in the hobby, and where we are headed in the future. It will include a small amount of husbandry, but will be more about the people and the hobby, and its evolution from the wild caught corn to what we see now. I will present it to the herp society in Minnesota in early Oct, and then continue to add to, or refine it, for future talks.

I have quite a few photos already, and have a good start on it. But I am thinking it would be nice to add a few photos from our community here. What I could probably use are some pictures of home set ups, ranging from simple to elaborate. Maybe a few photos of some of the newest (or best examples of) corn morphs. And maybe a few photos of some technique that is a bit unusual, but has been working for you. Maybe a couple of "cute" photos, too, but not too many of those. I am open to suggestions.

Please email any photos to [email protected]. Please make them 1 - 5 mb in size. I will only be able to use a few, and they will have to be really clear, and of great quality. In order to keep from bogging down my email service, please send no more than 5 of the best images you think might work, and let me know if you think you have even more that will fit in well. Then I can email you back with a request, if more are needed. And please add your name as you would like it to appear in the acknowledgments.

Hope to hear from some of you soon, as I will need to finish it up within a week or so (although such a presentation is NEVER completely finished, and will be "tweaked" for eternity, lol!)

THANKS!
Kathy Love

I don't know if they'd agree to let you use their images, but pics of Chris (Tyflier) herping with his daughter or of Marcel Poots' son Jesse helping with the herps always make me smile. I think they show the future of herping!

Kathy-

You are more than welcome to pictures of my daughter, Zayne, playing with her corns. She and the snakes have both grown a bit since I took pics of them together, but I'd be happy to get a photo session with her together tonight and e-mail a few pics to you, if you think you might be interested...

Do you have a link to the photos that were posted? I think I missed them.

Most of them were posted some time ago. I have several with her posing with different wild snakes we have found this summer, but I haven't posted any recent ones of her with the cornsnakes.

I will take some tonight and send them your way.

Thanks! I really like the hypo pewter, and don't have a photo of one. If I use it, how would you like your name to appear in the acknowledgments?

Kathy,
When you come up in October to the Minnesota Herpetological Society are we going to see this Power point?

I got to agree with J9.......

This pic of Chris and co is priceless....

Looking forward to hearing you speak! I'll be making that meeting for sure!

That reminds me of the song 'Little man you had a busy day' LOL
But thats the images I like to see......And IMO sum up the way our hobby should be aimed.....

Yes, it is for the Oct meeting in Mn. And I am sure I will give it many times after that. I have given a similar slide show in the past, but this will be the first PowerPoint. It is amazing what can be done with that program -leaves a slide show in the dust, lol!

All of the kid photos are SO PRECIOUS! I already have a few, so it will be hard to decide which to use. One of the good things about PP is that you can use several photos together, on one screen. That really helps get the point across.

Anyone who posts photos, or emails them to me - be sure to let me know what name you wish me to use for you. If you don't say otherwise, I will just use your CS screen name.

THANKS EVERYONE!

How about some cool cage set up photos?

I don't keep too many corns....but a couple....here's where they reside:

Each cage measures 48" x 12" x 12" all one unit is about 6ft tall.

And hey while I'm here....allow me to ask a question: I bought an Oketee Corn 3 years ago, (Unknown Line) and it started out with nice black outlined bands and everything about a year and half ago every shed the black started to disappear until I was left with the following the corn has very dark burnt orange backround and red saddles with no outlining what so ever...any ideas what happened? Because I'm at a loss:

Thanks in advance....

There is a thread going on right now (Classic Vs. Okeetee) in which we are trying to find out the differences a buyer should look for when getting an Okeetee baby corn. That might help you understand where it went wrong.

Also, I would start a new thread since this one is related to Kathy's presentation. Or maybe you could PM her. :shrugs:

True it is a bit off subject, but I figured she could use the photo if she wished.

But I'll check out that other thread thanks for the heads up.

It does seem unusual to lose a lot of black with age, but you never know for sure how they will turn out. If you can see photos of the adults before you purchase, it is probably more helpful than seeing the babies (or baby photos) themselves, since they change so much.

Appreciate the insight, and the answer, it was more of a curious question.
Good luck with the photo hunt....look forward to seeing the presentation in Oct.
