Tael - 2009 Miami

maxfox426

Can't Keep A Secret
This is Tael, a 1.0 2009 Banded Miami het Hypo, poss. het Cinder.

Tael, along with his sister Tatl, came from Captain's Colubrids (Thank you ArpeggioAngel!) as part of my prize from one of the photo contests over the Christmas holiday. :)

He's much calmer than his sister, by A LOT, though he is still a little wary of his new surroundings. His banding and colors are REALLY nice. I love it! Oh, and his head pattern makes it really easy to remember which of my miamis is the boy. :p

Now, of course, photos!

First day home, April 6th 2010
Sorry the photos are through the lid/side of his bin. Better ones are coming, I promise!

7/4/2010 Update!

I finally had a chance to take the snakes out for a photo shoot in the sunshine. I'm pretty pleased with the results!

Tael last weighed in at 18g on June 13th. That's up from 10g when he first arrived in April. :) He's pretty easy-going for the most part, but still has his spazzy moments here and there.

And, of course, pictures!

He's so RED! And I LOVE the way his saddles merge into his sides.

I'm not really sure what he was trying to accomplish here, but he did it a couple times. Made for an easy belly shot!

Thanks for looking! Hope you enjoyed. :D

They are both gorgeous! (I had to go look at the post of his sister too) :)
Congrats on your babies! Miami's are my favorite (that & Classics) :)

Thanks! Did you get to see the new photos of his sister? I just finished updating her thread. :)

I wasn't really planning on getting Miami's originally, but I am BEYOND thrilled with this pair. Bright reds on light backgrounds... they are are going to be stunning when they grow up!

They are stunning now, I cannot wait to see how they look grown up! :)
*running off to see sis' pics*

Pretty belly!!

Thanks! I'm glad he let me take the picture. His belly does look really neat! :)

Ooooo, his color is so pretty! I love his red.

Ok, Off-topic a little . . . .how do you tell a banded from a regular?

His red is great! As for banded, basically it's when they have the exaggerated pattern on their sides that merges into their dorsal saddles. Usually it's somehow associated with the motley gene, though that is not the case with Tatl and Tael. With them, it's a product of selective breeding.

At least, that's how I understand it so far. :)

They are both looking great! Have their temperaments calmed down any for you?

Tael can be pretty spazzy right when you pick him up, but he calms down pretty quickly. I wouldn't say he's to the point where he likes to be handled yet, but he tolerates it pretty well.

His sister, Tatl, on the other hand... is still the Queen of Spaz. She still tries to leap out of her tub, strike/hiss at anything that moves, and is basically a complete wiggle worm. Although, despite being a pain, I love her anyways. She keeps me on my toes and I can never complain that she's boring. ;)

Very pretty.. Love the belly!! :)

Thanks! :D I do, too! I'll be sure to continues posting pictures of it. ;)

Update!

Okay, it's been a long overdue while since I've done any progression updates...

Tael was in a pissy mood today, so much so that he tagged me on the finger while I was getting him out of his tub! He cooled down after a few minutes, but GEEZ boy!

He weighed in on February 25th, 2011 at 84g. Getting close to moving up to the big kid rack!

Update 9/13/2011

I got a little camera happy today and decided to try my hand at blue bowl photos of my whole collection. ;)

Tael's colors have gotten so bright! He's usually pretty mellow, but today he made a grab at my hand while I was taking him out for photos. I've got my fingers crossed that he proves out to be het. Cinder next year... that would just be awesome!
