I've seen something similar happen to pythons.... not a pretty sight in either case...
and yeah I agree, he could have been beautiful.

poor baby. I know it's the way of nature, but it's still heartbreaking when they have to pass on.

Thanks guys.. He/she looked like it would have been a beautiful snake, but nature can be cruel sometimes I guess.. At least the other 3 are fine though.

At least you got some healthy ones from the clutch. I am surprised be was even living.

Not only was he alive, he was quite feisty - he was continuously trying to move around, but he could only move up to where he was fused.. It made it even more sad that he had such determination..

Life is determined!
Poor thing. Such a pretty little guy, too.

This is something that a lot of prospective breeders don't think about. You will be called on to occasionally euthanize the unfortunate.

May I ask how you euthanized it? Is freezing considered a humane way? I personally think decapitation would be quick and painless.

I put in the fridge first for 2 hours, then in the freezer.. Actually, my friend did it for me -I didn't have the heart to do it, but I know I need to learn to if I'm going to carry on breeding.. I still need to chat to my vet about which method is best as they probably wouldn't even charge me for doing it, but unfortunately they were closed & I didn't want to wait hours while the poor thing was suffering..
