Hey everyone!

I've been lurking around the forum for a while. The boyfriend had been trying to convince me to get a snake since forever but I was hesitant cause I already have a small parrot (Green cheek conure) and a 1 yr old dog (Shetland Sheepdog).

Yet about a month ago he got persistent (because I wanted another dog hehe) and started sending me a bunch of information on corns. Their awesome colors and easy care convinced me. Plus I've always had a fascination with snakes, I was the kind of kid who would find grass snake nests and bring some home.

Anyhow long story short, please meet our new baby Gertrude Goggle a.k.a GG an anerythristic corn snake (born in August) we obtained from Reptile Rainforest last Friday. She seemed so comfortable in her tank that we decided to handle her Tuesday despite the regular 7 day rule. She was very calm and docile and we got to take a few pictures in the short 10 min we held her.

Yesterday she had her first successful feeding! We put her in the deli cup which was placed in her tank and as soon as we dropped the pinky in there she started eating it, right in front of us! We were so happy. Now we've left her alone all day and I just checked up on her and she is still resting in one of her hiding spots.

Anyhow I'm already obsessed with different morphs and am just resisting getting another one until next summer. Darn this corn addiction is very contagious. This forum is great but contributes a little too much to growing the addiction hehe!

Here's our little one:

welcome to the forum, the addiction is terrible im on here most nights lol. what a cool snake i dont think i couldnt have resisted holding her shes a beaut.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

Last night she had her second meal since she's been with us. She ate right in front of us in her deli-cup. :) She has not pooped yet but from what I have been reading, I'm sure it is normal.

We also got to weigh her for the first time. She is 13g.

Finally, I think she is getting very comfortable with us. When we take her out for her regular 10 min daily, she stays calmly in our hands. She explores a bit but not in the ''I want to get out of here'' speed, just slowly smelling around.

Can't wait to hold her again on Tuesday night. Until then she will be peacefully digesting her big 2.5g pinky :).

Well is she a beauty or what? hello welcome to the forum this site is full of good advise and snake experts so come on in and join us. ;)

What a beautiful baby. My first snake is an Anery male. He is the sweetest thing. He has always been very calm and easy to handle. He weighed 35 grams when I got him last February and now weighs 202 grams. Yes, corns are addictive, I just purchased a baby Blood Red female, she weighs 16 grams and a Extreme Okeetee female yearling. They are both eating well and being very normal, although still a little flighty when handled. That completes my snake family as I do not have room for any more. Good luck with your baby and welcome to a great forum. I have learned so much here.
