Rattlesnake Moms EAT dead offspring

That is really interesting. Super neat article. But I can see problems with telling the general public (at least the "ill knowledged" part) that Mom eats her dead babies. They aren't going to care too much if it's an excellent source of energy for an exhausted mother, just "ZOMG. SHE EATS HER BABIES, KILL THEM." I don't think it's going to cause people to be less aggressive towards the snakes, unless they're talking about how it's got a high reproductive rate but its numbers are low. I wish people weren't so afraid of snakes.

I didn't know rattlers stuck with their clutches long enough to eat the dead!
I know a few species of boa eat the slugs and dead offspring as well. I'll see if I can document that on camera this year.

Your """average""" person doesn't know 1/2 of what (and why) mother nature does to protect the virtues of Survival of the Fittest. It's probably the biggest reason peta still exists at all.

Exactly. PETA is probably worse for animals than humane euthanasia. What with their funding of ALF and all. Ingrid Newkirk makes me angry.

Anyway... I wish there was a way to... "Teach" people about nature and all of those awesome natural things, but really, only children listen. And even then...
