Interesting amel markings

We bred our Normal het amel male to our Snow female. I kept this amel because of her unique markings/light color. Is it just me that thinks she looks pretty neat? She seems to be high white but I don't really know what to think. Not sure if I should keep her or not.

That *is* pretty neat! I'm not always at home with all the morphs, but I think I can't be wrong in calling that a reverse okeetee. And a nice one at that too!

Very pretty! I can see that mom has some REALLY thick borders. I'm sure that is where she got hers. I agree, certainly a keeper!

I'd say keep and breed the two again the next few years to try to start your own RO line. That little one is the best I've seen! No offense to the "bigs" out there, but I think you may have yourself the best RO in the world!

I am so glad that you posted this. I bred the same combo this year and I had a little amel that turned out the same way. He didn't look like the normal amel babies that I have seen. So I wasn't sure what to think about what he will look like as a big boy but he was a nice little surprise. My snow looks exactly the same however she is coral color instead of yellow.

I originally hoped she'd turn out as more of a pink but her yellow is what makes her. I'll just have to get my hands on a Coral Snow some day!

Here are the siblings (all of which I've sold already):

I am going with stunning RO and hopefully she stays that way and her borders don't fill in!!

Has the term Extreme RO been thrown around? I know I've heard of Extreme Abbott's...but if anything would qualify as an Extreme RO, I'd say this little one is it! I mean, still needs some time to grow, but it seems it will keep those same thick thick white borders :D

I don't see thick borders on the mother, the mother is frosted and the yellow is the color of the saddles. Borders on a snow are white. You're so lucky you have such a nice RO in the clutch!

Now I have to ask. I have never interbred "family" members before and I know that many breed siblings together. Could I breed my little guy back to his mom? Or is there a reason that I shouldn't? I am only asking cause Dad is het anery and amel so I thought in the future if I bred him to his mom then that would increase my chance of RO's.

Yes you can breed him back to mama. I think it would actually be better than breeding with a sibling because then at least they only have half the same dna. That's how I see it anyway.

It seems odd to me that she'd hatch out as an RO with neither parent being Okeetee. Is it just a fluke that she looks the way she does? Very interesting so I should probably keep her!
