Hi,

Got 13 good eggs out of 20. Mom is amel het caramel bred to dad and uncle who are butter motley. I was hoping to get butter motley..

Day 59 yesterday and this one pip and today decided to come out... while the others decided to take their own sweet time inside the eggs (not even pip yet)

I checked the belly and it is very very clear.. so I guess this guy is amel motley

Cute baby! Has sort of a different look to him, but could just be the lighting or pre-shed effect. We're anxiously awaiting the rest of the pippies ALMOST as much as you are!

Yep.. mom is quite different from her other siblings.. very lightly colored

1. Here is grandpa and grandma in Jan 2009 when mom was produced..

4. Here is the video of mom laying eggs

Congratulations. In the future though, don't bother the females while they are trying to lay the eggs. Read Kathy Loves book. She says it over and over again. Grandma and grandpa are a little too big there lol. Consider getting those fat things on a diet!

Looks like Mom must be het caramel and motley. Grandpa must have passed down his motley gene. Nice hatchling!

Yep.. I understand that. I learned the hard way with grandma. Grandma laid 17 eggs and 1 egg stuck (eggbound) for 3 weeks. Brought her to vet and had to have an operation and retired from breeding ever since.

I thought mom was not gravid because I never seen any lock up and after a week of not eating after shed, she trashed her "eggbox". So I figured I cleaned her tub and offered her food after that (It was a feeding and cleaning day for everybody). So I cleaned every tub and fed everybody. When I came to her tub, I saw mom laying eggs so close to the water dish. So I was afraid she would laid egg into the water dish. She did with 2 of the eggs.

This is my 2nd cornsnake clutch and I had 2 ballphyton clutch since 2009. I guess I learn something every time. And this forum has been great source of information...

Very cute little one!

I think the different look is coming from being in pre-shed, and being het Caramel. The Amel Mots I hatched out that are het for Caramel kind of looked light and peachy like that, and once they shed they are MUCH more red/orange. Amels het Caramel do seem to have a special look to them.

Fingers crossed that you get a Butter Motley!! They are the cutest little things.
