Earler Than Possibly Expected Clutch - Updated!

Susan

Go Ahead, Make My Day!
Longish story, but I sure didn't expect to find these in her tub today. They've now got a wet and moderately wrung out paper towel underneath and over the clump of 5 eggs and over the 2 single ones, then covered with more damp moss. I sure hope they plump back up and eventually hatch.

I have saved eggs that looked MUCH worse than those. I had a female lay behind the laying box and I did not know it until the next day. Those jokers looked like raisins!

Well, considering I didn't even think the pair had mated and I was getting ready to put them together again, about 5 weeks early! There was one time I saw a very small amount of evidence, but no actual hook-ups, around 3/10/12. She shed on 3/17/12 and he has been actively courting her when they have been together since then with her not really running away, just not allowing him to insert his hemipenes. I figured she was about to be fully receptive about now...not lay eggs!

After a few days with the moist paper towel next to the eggs, I didn't notice much change, so I wrapped the eggs in the moist sphagnum moss, placed the paper towel over the top of the moss and when I checked them today, this is what they looked like! :dancer:

Good job Susan.

After all the worrying and fussing we do over these eggs we forget one thing...........they were designed to hatch!
