Hey all, it's probably been a year or two since I've posted, so hello again!

My grandma called me yesterday about a snake she had found on the porch at her southwest MO farm. We went up there to check him out (and rescue him from his new fruit jar enclosure).

I'm trying to ID the little guy, and I'm leaning toward black rat snake. I'd like to rule out prairie king or plains rat, so I'm asking for second (and 3rd) opinions.

I'd guess he's between 2 wks and 2 months old, and is about as big around as a pencil. Here are some pics:
