Silly newbie questions about thermostats...

I'm feeling really dumb right now... :awcrap:

I went out to get the supplies for an incoming snake today and at the Walmart, without really looking at what I was getting, I picked up a thermostat which does NOT have the plugin (ie, I have to wire it myself).

My stupid question: Is there any way I can use this with a UTH? Or have I just wasted $20? (I cut the package and etc open before I realised my stupidity.) :awcrap:

Thanks for your answers...

I'm not sure if you can use it, but what your describing sounds like a rheostat not a thermostat. As far as already opening it, you should still be able to take it back if you have the receipt.

Hi Alicia P

Thanks for the info! I see Walmart has a ridiculous return policy... I've packaged up everything and I hope they'll refund me. The package did say "thermostat" and it has a digital readout with up and down control buttons, but it's the kind that I need to remove and rewire to wall thermostats.

Cheers!

You'll need a thermostat that's designed to work with a UTH, so I'm guessing the ones available in Walmart will all be domestic ones which won't really do what you want.
