Collaboration Effort - "Colorado Corns/Zorro and Legacy Reptiles"........ We did it!

John and I wanted to share this with all of you. This pairing was a collaboration effort between John (El Zorro - Colorado Corns) and myself (Legacy Reptiles). The parents (Avalanche Kastanie (Sire) x Kastanie blood het snow (Dam)) were produced by our friend Don Soderberg.

1. Introduction date was on 5/3/13 follow by 5/6/13. In both dates copulation was witness (Pics below)

2. On June 24, 2013 oviposition was noted with a total count of 11 viable eggs.

3. Update as of - 8/7/13..... All eleven eggs look plum and viable. This year all the clutches have hatched at least 4 to 5 days prior to the due date (in this particular case I expect to see some pips starting on day 8/19/13) @ temperatures between 83-84 F.

4. Eggs pipping started early this morning (8/20/2013). One of the eggs turn yellow and shrunk. Here is a preview....

5. First one out......Mandarin Blood (AKA.. Amel Kastanie Blood) and second one follows (Kastanie Blood het amel, anery).

6. As of today - 8/23/13

Here is the verdict out of 10 eggs:

0.0.5 Kastanie blood het anery, amel
0.0.2 Avalanche Kastanie Blood
0.0.3 Mandarin Bloods

7. The last one to come out (Avalanche Kastanie)...

Many thanks to John 'Zorro" for an exciting project and for the opportunity!

Thanks for looking!

Orlando

Orlando,

What a great set of photos. I love the timeline you've set up for us.

My question though is as follows:

0.0.2 Avalanche Kastanie Blood

You meant Avalanche Kastanie, correct? As the "blood" is redundant, as it's included in the avalanche trade name. My guess is that you both wanted to recreate the sire, right? I didn't even know that an avalanche kastanie existed...very cool!

Mitch

PS, you've been destroying the kastanie morphs this year!!!!!! Great work.

Mitch,
Thanks so much for the correction... it should have said AVALANCHE KASTANIE.........:crazy02:

Here is one for next year - Snow Kastanie...

and here is a another picture of the Avalanche Kastanie and proud PAPA of this brood.

I have John's Avalanche Kastanie on breeding loan. So next year we are doing Avalanche Kastanie x same.

Take care!

Orlando

I just corrected the typo....

Here is the verdict out of 10 eggs:

0.0.5 Kastanie blood het anery, amel
0.0.2 Avalanche Kastanie
0.0.3 Mandarin Bloods

Thanks again!

I love the timeline but expecially the outcome. When I sent mom to Orlando she was labeled as Kastanie Blood Pos Het Avalanche. As I understand it we had mandarins right away but after no anery types showed up we were beginning to question that part of the Pos hets. The Avalanche were in the last two eggs!!!!!!
Congrats Dad and thank you for saving my Kastanie Avalanche project.
John
