Anyone built a rack for large vivs?

I am contemplating building some sort of rack system for my vivs (vs. sterilite tubs) in my garage. I want to keep them housed in 30 gal long vivs -- fish tank style and want to build something like a shelf system to hold them all. I was thinking I should build some type shelving sytem against the wall with recessed lighting for added heat in the winter. I am in So. Calif. so it doesn't get all that cold, but can dip into the 30's and 40's on rare occasions.

I am just wondering if anyone has built something like this that can share pics or plans? Also, I was wondering if they would get enough light in the garage or if that is too dark? I do have one long window in there and can open the garage door from time to time. The summers can also really warm up in there, so I wonder what I might be able to do to keep it cool.

I appreciate any suggestions/tips.

i've never done it but probly will eventuly as well but why don't you go down to your local pet shop and ask if you could take alook at what they have? and improve on the design

I keep my snakes indoors so I dont know. My house stays at about 60 year round so I dont know. What I did for my savanah in the garage when I had him is just 1-2 red basking lights kept on 24/7 and about 6 inches moist soil in the summer so they can burrow down where its cooler. No need for heating pads or lights in the summer and in the winter just lights. Let me know what you think.

Experience with stacking lizard tanks:

The only drawback I've found with this concept is that it is a royal pain to access the tank's top when they are stacked. Feeding, watering, and cleaning quickly become "not fun" when you have to pull the tank out of the rack. If this is something you decide to do, place the tanks on a shelf attached to a set of drawer guides (like a drawer without sides.) This will allow you easy access to the inside of the tank.

Just my .02, which is worth what you paid for it! ;)
