I used:

1. Because they are generally easy animals to take care of (depending on what type you want, but they didn't need to know that)

2. Because they will help me with my future career as a Zoologist or Biologist/Snake keeper

3. Because I do well in school and I never ask for anything from you so let me get one or I'll get one anyways :D

But to convince anyone else...depends on the type of person and if that person has a fear of snakes I guess.
 
The main one for me is they relieve stress. ( but I only have 2 to take care of). I can watch them slither through my hands for ever. Very therapeutic. :eek:

Well i used to have hamsters, but they STUNK, I just said that snakes dont smell and they suddenly became interested. LOL
 
They aren't loud and ANNOYING like...

--squaking birds
--little hamster running on those freakin' squeeky metal wheels at-all-hours-of-the-night GRR
--little yapping dogs
--cats constantly MEOW MEOW MEEEEEOOOOOOWWWing

That's because you're 15...lol. I can usually pick out messages posted by people still in high school because they all look like that.

And you have no idea how old that makes me feel because I'm only 21 and already that far out of the loop...haha. :laugh:

Also, my reason was something similar to "I'm going to teach biology anyway and I want something to go along with my genetics lessons. So really, this snake is necessary for a successful career, and failure to get one will leave me panhandling and/or living in a cardboard box until I die of exposure some winter"

Pretty close to my reasoning except I needed mine to enhance our outreach programs :)

I do marketing and events for a winery...but in the summer I teach pond studies and outreach programs to rich, bratty kids :)
The good part is that I get paid to catch frogs all day :D
