my 6 year old lavender ghost (lots of pics)

ladydragon

My wish list is......
Well, here are a few pics of my boy... hopefully they are clear enough for someone to let me know if he truly is a lavender ghost or something else. enjoy.

almost looks like he's smiling for me....

100_2005a.jpg
Just a nice face and belly shot. his belly is white mottled with dark charcoal grey patches

100_2007a.jpg
the yellow when I first got him was only along his face.. now it extends down his body almost the entire length

100_2008a.jpg
close up of his body to show his color.. he has changed from very pale pink lavender/grey to this. the outline on his saddles was not there when he was little.. he has increasinly become darker with age.

100_2009a.jpg
burrowing into his substrate after having his photos taken.. acting shy.

100_2006a.jpg
this pic shows the intense yellow extending down his body.

Looks to me like a "normal" ghost (anery hyp).

And the snake is 6 years old. I don't think that you can find al lot of laverder ghost of that age.

well at least the ghost part is correct. :) thanx for the input. Kinda was hoping he was part lavender too, but he's still neat to me.

It seems a bit unlikely, but probably not impossible, for it to be a true Ghost Lav. According to Rich's site, lavs were first produced in the mid 80's. I think it was still quite a while before other genes were added to the mix (especially triple recessives like this would have to be).
I'm wondering if this wasn't sold as a lavender colored ghost. Know what I mean? It could have been a ghost that had a lavender look to it, but I don't know. It certainly looks to be at least a ghost. Like was said above, breeding would be the only way to say for sure.
Regardless, that's a good looking snake:)

lol.. anybody got a lavenderfemale? corn snakes are impossible to find by me. the local pet stores dont carry them and then if they have to order them, the charge and arm, leg, first child.. ah you get the pic. :) guess I could always order from a reputable corn snake site. any recommendations? thanx.

yes he is definitely a ghost.... hypo anery

Well, after some searching on this sight and clicking on a few links I sent email to Connie from CCCorns and sent her a few pics of my boy. She stated that since he has that much copper coloring in him he is a ghost (hypo anery). To quote her.. she said "very anery". Im just happy to finally have a solid answer, and want to thank all for their input and knowledge on what my guy is.

I apologize if I insulted anyone by my previous post... having all the answers from here saying he is a ghost and finally (after years of trying to get an answer) having a breeder say the same thing makes it a solid answer to me. Once again, I apologize. :)
Now I can entertain the idea of breeding him, knowing what he is. Wonder what combos would be good?

Lol, the (same) breeders come here too! :D
So you would get the same solid answer over here :D

Ok not everyone over here is a breeder or knows a lot about morphs, but a lot do.

Your guy is a Gorgeous Ghost!!! :santa:

I have a baby who I suspect is a Ghost or an anery het hypo.
I am breeding him to an Amber (which is a hypo Caramel) and an amel stripe.

With the amber I want to test if he is a ghost or het hypo, the babies should come out mostly hypo if he is (correct me if I am wrong please! lol) and will be het Caramel and het anery which is pretty cool! lol

I am breeding him to the amel stripe to eventually get Anery stripes, Amel stripes, snow stripes and Ghost stripes (thats IF he is hypo...lol)

Hypo babies are lovely...maybe you could get some sort of hypo and breed him to her? The babies will be hypo then and will have nice hets that could be fun for future breeding! :santa:

Best of luck! :)

PS: I don't think you were being at all rude! :santa:

breeding my ghost...

thanx everyone. I think if I venture into the breeding part of owning a corn, I will try him with a lavender female. either to rule out that he is het (?) for lav or simply a ghost. see what the babies come out like and go from there, either way it should be an interesting venture for me. I'm still trying to learn the genetic aspect and the terminology is still befuddling my brain. and sometimes the more I read, the more frustrated i become. :headbang: then I just want to sit and  . I do know that hypo means lacking. hyper means too much, its when i get into anery and amelistic that I go huh. but Im hoping that by breeding him and seeing the results i can kinda learn that way too. thanx for all the support guys. I'll keep everyone up to date with my new venture.
