Fluffy a story about rehabbing an Angry BOA

tricksterpup

I has nuttin to Say.
Ok folks, I got this guy from our local herp society in May and I have been rehabbing him since then. He was vastly underweight to the point of counting his ribs with your fingers. He had patchy shed on his skin.

So we brought him home, gave him a bath and removed as much shed as we could. We treated his cage for mites, to be safe as well. I started to feed him a mouse every 5 days. Then started to move up to larger prey. He is now up to large rats to small rabbits with a bit longer wait in between feedings.

I heard the original owner stopped feeding him due to him being to aggressive but I think its the other way around.

Well you will see my SO and Cam5 in the pictures. They were trying to remove some old shed off this guy, he is growing so fast he is shedding almost every week.

We believe he maybe a Mexican boa.

The angry photos.

If you see the woman with the latex glove she got tagged by him. She didn't want to bleed all over the snake and outside.

Thanks for the wonderful experience.
I have no idea how the SO does that all by herself!

It was amazing that once his retained eyecaps were removed by your 'better half' he quit trying to bite (as much) and his body even relaxed a bit.

He is lucky to have the two of you to care for him...bad sheds, broken ribs, hissy attitude and all.

His color, body shape and strength are a 100% improvement from the day you brought him home...Lucky Fluffy:)

Thanks again!

Nice job your doing on him....... We get to see more and more of that table every week.........LOL. Thats the official snake table is it?

Yes it is. lol
I guess if I am going to have snakes on a table it should be this one, outside. Especially if we are pulling off WET snake shed.

Thanks, it is hard work rehabbing an animal like this.

Wow!!!
He is looking great!

Was there a tag between the last 2 pictures?
(went from bare hands to a glove)

Is he still in a state of constant shed?

The glove thing, no bites tonight only on himself. He went to strike and got himself. But those gloves where just there just in case.

And yes, he had a bad shed on him tonight again. This guy is a pain.

Ooooo...maybe he will learn now that biting is 'not nice';)

Do you have any idea how long to expect his bad shed/continual shed cycle to continue?
He is a lucky little pain to have you two:cheers:

We have upped his humidity and still working on this guy. This shed wasn't really bad. He had a few strips on him So it was better this time. I am thinking on placing him in another cage and moving him out of the 40 gallon breeder i have him in.

Well you guys have certainly helped him farther than it ever seemed he would go fromt he looks of things that first day.

Kudos to you both:cheers:

He's looking good, great job on him......
Right guys send me pm's and we'll run a book on, when we see the first pic around the shoulders. With his head by trickys face... Nearest date, without going over, wins a smartass award... LOL
