Hi guys!
Well its took me a couple of weeks to plan it all out propperly and get all my wood together and stuff, and finally this afternoon me and my grandad got going on my rack system!
We have made it so that it has 5 shelves! All together the wood cost me about 40 quid, the tubs cost me 24 quid, and the heat cable (which i still need to get) will be about 30 quid! so in total it has all cost me about 80 quid (something like that). But it is WELL worth it!
The rack isnt completely finished yet, it still needs a back going on there, and then i need to get the heat cable an sort that out, but the main bulk of it is done! it only took us a few hours once we got going!

I have to take my hat off to me grandad! He is a legend! I explained to him how i needed itto be made with the tubs and everythin and he new all the best ways to go about doing it and he constructed it like a pro. I obviously was helping out but once my grandad got in the zone there wasnt much i could do, lol, i was doing all the heavy lifting and just helping out wer i could. he did all the drilling ect.

anyway, without further adoo, here it is!

I am sooooo pleased with it!.........proggression pics............

thank you so much!
It means a lot to me that you guys like it!
Well the wood all together was about 35-40 pounds! The tubs wer 7 pounds each and i bought 4 of those.
The little cube things that you can see on the picture when were putting the top on are called 'conti-joints' according to my grandad, and they connect the roof and the sides of the rack without screwing any screws directly into the wood without any other means of support. They just make it sturdier and a lot tydier! Below each shelf are 4 shelf brackets (2 on each side), to support the shelf and then there are 4 screws (2 on each side) drilled into the shelves from the side just to make sure its extra strong!

thank you guys :)
hey wade, without doubt if i would have attempted to build it on my own theres no way i could have done such a good job! I think il have to be getting my grandad a bottle of scotch or whiskey or somethin to say thanks!

Awesome looking rack... I need to make one as well, but I'm not that good with wood work... I guess i'll just have to try... :)

That's pretty much EXACTLY what I was wanting to build. Unfortunately, heating is a bit beyond what I understand, and I don't think my dad would be too thrilled to learn what all that was for... He still doesn't know I've got two snakes, and I've got another one (maybe two) on the way... Heh. I love your shorts, by the way...

What size tubs are those?

i cant believe your dad doesnt know you have 2 snakes already! LOL thats crazy! The heating is going to be pretty simple really especially with my tubs because they have a slight curve on the underside of the tubs, running from one end to the other. Thats going to make it easy to get heat cable underneath the tubs and that will heat the whole rack with 5-8 meters (not fulle sure on how much il need yet) of heat cable!
glad you like my shorts by the way! shorts are pretty much all i wear! especially round the house! I HATE JEANS! even when i go out i try to avoid them! lol

whre did you get the tubs?? i'm wanting to build a rack of my own for my BP's but i dont know where to get tubs like that.

i got the tubs from a shop called 'The Range'. I doubt that they would have stor braches in the US but hey you never know

Great Job Brett,
I wish I was could have had your Granddad's & your help building some for me.
I just bought had to buy mine cause tools and me don't work well together. lol
Great job again.
Tim

thank you for all the possitive guys :) my grandads coming round today and wer going to put a bit of a back on the rack just to make it that little bit more strong and stirdy! then its done! all i will need is my heat cable! WOOO! lol
