Re-Intro, the other one didn't go so hot.

My name is Adam Keith and I live somewhere in Minnesota at the present time. I migrate between Minnesota and Wyoming 'cause they both rock.

I'm a jerk. I hate people, and people hate me. I like animals 'cause they don't hold grudges, they give you a clean slate every time you see them.

I have Asperger's syndrome (diagnosed by five different people @ age 13) and for those of you who don't know what that is, here is a very brief summary:
http://anniemeredith.com/tag/aspergers-male-brain-characteristics/

I used to be really scared of snakes ever since I received a (very minor) bite from a rattler, which didn't even leave a scar. I think the first snake I got on purpose was a ball python, and it was absolutely freakin' vicious. A bartender friend of mine has it now, and it's still vicious, only now it's just four feet longer than when I got it.

I'm not scared of snakes anymore, except when they're outside (wild) and they're moving really fast on the ground like.. Blurgh.. I can't tell you what it is, but it creeps me out.

I can't handle dead snakes either. That one is a really wierd phobia. If one of my snakes died, I'd have to call a friend to come move it. I was reading these threads on the BOI about dead snakes in the mail, and the hair on my back was standing up. Ugh! Need to think about something else.

I'm in a talkative mood tonight. This is a rare thing for me. :dancer:

I breed and train horses.. Uhm.. I like colorful critters (fish, parrots, lizards, etc.) and every once in a while, I have a mouse that I just can't kill, so it becomes a pet (until it makes me angry). It's been two years since I've had a mouse stillborn or cannibalized, and I'm pretty proud of it.

Oh, I can draw too. But I probably won't. Too lazy.

I can't think of anything else (as if anyone is going to read this anyway).

..Do I say goodbye? I'm not really going anywhere..

I don't think I read your other intro and I guess that's a good thing if it didn't turn out well...so HELLO :wavey:. My cousin also has Asperger's syndrome so I know all about that. I can also relate to how you feel about people, most people tend to really bother me, hence why I'd rather deal with animals too.

Welcome (again?), then. :)

Gotta give you credit for trying a fresh start instead of just giving up on the site after your first intro. Hopefully things go a little smoother this time for you.

Hey welcome back having worked with people with Asperger's I am also aware of the affects it can have on you.
Hope things go better for you this time.

My 4 year old son Nathaniel is Autistic and my most special boy in the world. He too prefers animals to people and thats fine with us. Nice to see you reintroduce yourself to a whole community- I hope one day he is as brave as you.

"Hey, I know who you are! How ya doin', Adam?"
Hola! I am doing.. Fair. Thanks for askin'. ;)

"Turning a new leaf, for New Year?"
D: I'm just sick of people calling me names.

"Gotta give you credit for trying a fresh start instead of just giving up on the site after your first intro. Hopefully things go a little smoother this time for you."
One can only hope! ;)

I'm surprised so many people are so familiar with my condition. I was told it was really rare when I was diagnosed. Perhaps it isn't so rare after all! ;)

I used to be the most shy, frightened, quiet, easily-upset kid in the world. I did not say a word until I was atleast four, and then I stuttered terribly to the point that I was completely not understandable (I do have something else wrong with me other than Asperger's, I just don't know what it is). I don't know if Nathaniel has the same difficulties as I did when I was his age, but I did in fact get over most of them. My heart goes out to Nathaniel. He may have many obstacles to overcome, but he will overcome them, and in the end, he will have done things that few other children ever have, and he will be that much stronger because of it.

I wasn't expecting so many replies. I almost feel liked. :)

I too want to say welcome back! You may or may not see it but you are defying odds and doing absolutely wonderful for yourself, that is really great for you!! I don't know anyone personally that has to overcome obstacles such as yourslf, but my mom works in a state phyciatric hospital and I hear all about people that have major metal issues that they just can not deal with themselves. Some so bad that they have spent nearly their entire lives there because they can't integrate into society. So in my opinion you are doing absolutely awesome!!
I believe that one thing you will figure out on this forum is that the people on here for the most part are not going to give up on you for one mistake or two for that matter. The people here seem to be genuine and compassionate. So if and whenever you decided you wanted someone to talk to, as in the human form, you will definately be able to find them here. Not saying that having animal friends is not as good because God knows, those are the BEST kind!! Take for example the people that have already replied to your post, you thought that your diagnosis was rare, which in fact it probably is, but there are those here that have experience with it. I mean how much better could that get than to have someone that knows almost exactly what you are going through or have gone through already!!
I wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors and make sure you keep in touch!!
I'll talk to you anytime you want to talk!!

Christina

Hah. Well, I think you do know what I'm going through, but I must say that so far, people here have not been understanding in general of the difficulties I have with interaction. I've tried to apologize to a few people who proceeded to insult me. But that's okay. I still have my snakes. :) And the people who replied to this post. Not all people are bad, but most I don't care for. ;)

Hello Adam, I remember you from earlier! Thanks for taking the time to reply and offer advice on my thread on what to do if the power goes out!!

I'm glad to see that you're reintroducing yourself and starting from scratch. I'm sure you'll have a lot to contribute to the site!

So that said... Welcome back!!

Much better, Adam.
In my job, I deal with many individuals, with various "idiosyncrasies". All of whom are very unique, and all of which are very interesting.
Don't ever be shy about being different. Eric.

Hey! Devon here. I'm also new to this forum. There's so many people here that you're bound to find SOMEONE to get along with. And I must say that I'm really impressed with most of the user's knowledge on snakes. ( The discussion on identifying what snake it was by the shed skin found in the garage really blew me away and also the "guess that herp" had me impressed too! I've got so much the learn! )

I have to admit, I can understand the not liking people part. Maybe that's why I've chosen to work in the animal industry in some way most of my life. I'm not doing that now. I'm working a part-time job in the fast food biz simply because of the lousy economy and its driving me NUTS! I CAN'T WAIT to get a better job!

So-----you train horses? Hmmmm. I've been a groom for around 20 years off and on, everything from racehorses, to carriage and show horses. Not good enough to train though. I've lost my heart to 3 very special Haflinger horses. What breed do you train and what discipline?

Welcome to the forum! I hope you like it here!

Devon
3 horses ( including Alex, the Wonder Stallion! )1 ancient Borzoi, 6 cats and 1 very special sand boa.

Eric, your reply made me smile for some reason. :)

Devon, I work with hotblooded horses such as arabs and barbs and occasionally thoroughbreds. I enjoy their spirit and stamina as well as their hardiness. I'm working with 2 Akhal-Tekes and 1 Arab mare who has stolen my heart. I'm definitely not a high-end trainer, but I know enough to get them ridable.

All right, who is this really???

Adam, nice to have you amoung us. Welcome to the forum.
