new tattoo (SNAKE!)

sooo it's not finished yet, i go back for session #3 in february. (getting tattooed 2 days in a row is not advised, i say from personal experience)

in case anyone's wondering, the snake is gonna be colored like this:

excuse the shoddy focusing, but that would be my sister attempting to operate my dslr!

i couldn't be more pleased with my tattoo so far. i had no idea what my artist was gonna do with the flowers when he started, i just showed him what colors i wanted, and that is what he came up with. and when i first saw it in the mirror my jaw just DROPPED. personally i think it looks 200% better than what i anticipated. i also don't really know how he's gonna do the snake, but i trust him fully. i can't WAIT til february!!!

I, too, really love the colors and shading he did on the flowers! Its beautiful. I wonder also what he will do the snake and look forward to seeing after its done. Will he be able to finish in one more sitting?? It looks pretty big and lots of skin left to do. I have a 1/2 sleeve that I had done in one sitting.... took about 6 hours but I am glad I did it that way.. not sure I would have been able to talk myself into going back in the next day LOL I would love to have that design but with a bubblegum or a hypo lavendar... would both go nicely with the flowers... Mind if in another year or so if I show my tattooist that pic??

thanks guys! i am so ecstatic as well, i just cannot wait for it to be done! so far that's 6 hours of work, so i think it's possible to finish the rest in one sitting. at least i hope so, because yes, going 2 days back to back is absolutely brutal. it's ok at first but then the intensity just sorta hits you like a sack of wet mice. (sorry, had to throw that in there for all us snake people!)

Two comments. WOW! That is friggin' AWESOME! The artwork is magnificent! ( I love it when a tattoo artist draws like he actually knows what he's sketching. I've seen so many horse tattoos that are simply CRAP! The artist has no idea of the anatomy of the animal and it shows. One of them was a tattoo on someone else done from one of my pieces of horse artwork. It was horrible! But I wasn't going to tell the girl that. She was so happy with it. But I could tell the artist had no idea why that line was there and another was here. I was so disappointed! )

Second comment: OUCH! You got it on your intercostals??!! That's like the most PAINFUL place to get it! I have a friend who is a tattoo model and when she got hers there, 3 big guys had to hold her down! EEEKKK! You're a stronger woman than me! I'm a wimp when it comes to pain.

Having said that, I DO have one tattoo. It was my mid-life crisis thing. Two things I had always wanted to do and never had the guts when I was younger : dye my hair and get a tattoo. I did that a couple of years ago and have been very happy with the results. I have a tattoo of the Celtic horse goddess Epona on my arm that I drew myself. Its just plain black with some shading. I really should get it filled in with white especially now that I hear they have glow in the dark white tattoo ink! That sounds really cool! I was making more $$$$ then. Sigh!

PLEASE post pics when its finished! ( You brave woman you!)

I'm not a big fan of ink, but I do have to say that's really well done.
I also have to say that there's no force of nature that could force me to possibly endure that much pain. I would simply need to be sedated.
I had surgery that required local and when it began wearing off I needed to be restrained until they amped up the meds.
You are a far better person than I.
That had to hurt, I don't care who you are!

That is going to be a stunning piece of art when it is finished. I keep saying I want to get a snake tattoo as well, but cannot decide which morph or pose I want to use or where I want to put it.
All I know is when I do decide to go and get one done, I hope it comes out 1/2 as well as that one!

That is stunning. I can tell the tat artist is very good, can't wait to see the finished product! I'd love to get a beautiful big snake tat like that one day too!
