Trash on the roadways

What the hell is wrong with people? They can't carry a trash bag in their vehicles with them and instead have to throw their trash out the windows whenever and whereever they feel like it? Connie and I walked down the road (a public easement) through our property the other day and it's sickening to see all the garbage people have thrown out on our land. So I grabbed my camera and intend to go to one of my county commisioners to see what can be done about it. If the county can't keep my land clean from the people who use this easement, then they can just close the damn thing.

I said it last night, and I'll say it again. That's just wrong. I keep all of my trash in my car to be thrown out at a later time... day... month... year. LOL. But seriously, that is ridiculous. You shouldn't have to clean up your own property of trash that isn't yours because some backwoods rednecks don't have a trash can.

Isn't this the video you said you were shooting when you found that LavMot?

Thats just disgusting. I cannot stand it when people throw trash out their car windows. Can't they just wait until they get home? What is my biggest peeve, is people who throw out their cigarette butts. Its bad enough they chose to pollute their bodies, but that they cant deal with their own trash so they pollute the environment too. I have done volunteer road cleanups and I can tell you 80% of what we pick up is cigarette butts.

I am glad Robbie and I were driving down your road when it was dark. It probably would have been depressing to see all that trash lining your road.

Unfortunately, what you video taped is pretty typical of any road in at least the 2 counties I frequently drive. And it could be worse. The little mile long limerock road I live on, in the past year alone, has seen a single dump of at least 20 television sets, 3 vehicles (2 cars and 1 pick up), a single dump of about 15 tires, and a trailer full of assorted garbage that included a washing machine, 2 recliners and the trailer itself.

At least you haven't found any bodies....

That would be my worry on a back road like that.

And that was last year (an old woman - murdered), just across the intersecting main highway at the end of my street.

Yes, it is.

I guess on the bright side, those empty beer cans can be used as living quarters for some critters. I remember a long while back my little brother found a corn snake in a beer can.

Bottles and cans are one of the biggest killers of small mammals. How ironic that you are overrun with both.

And even more ironic is that the contents of those bottles and cans is one of the biggest killers of even larger mammals.....

Now the question uppermost in my mind right now is how do I get these bottles and cans to get to work killing the rodents around here?

It isn't only backroads that get trash. We live in a regular neighborhood in Tacoma, near an elementary school, and we had someone throw a king size mattress and box springs over a six foot fence into our backyard from the alley behind us. We also had a rabbit hutch and tires tossed into our yard. That was intentional illegal dumping. We see assorted trash in the alley all the time.

"At least you haven't found any bodies...."

Unlike beer cans, at least the bodies are biodegradable, lol!

Yes - disgusting! I can't even imagine just tossing something out the window - well maybe an occasional banana peel or apple core in the woods, but nothing more permanent than that.

I can't stand people who think it's ok to just discard their rubbish anywhere they feel like!

I have a friend whose son has a nice burn scar on his neck, this was caused by a careless driver throwing his cigarette butt out of his window whilst travelling at over 60mph on the motorway, it flew back into my friends car window and got lodged in his collar. He was only 9months old at the time and strapped into a child seat in the back of the car, it took her a couple of minutes to find somewhere safe to pull over, so she could check him to find out why he was crying so much, she didn't realise the burning butt had actually flown into her car!

So you talk about a metal detector in one thread and now trash in this one....what's next Rich....black knee socks and shorts! Don't let retirement get to you too soon!!! :roflmao:
