OMG TOO SCARED TO TOUCH HIM!

Tara80

ACR Breeder # 787
Soooo, my Tessera is coming on Tuesday from SMR. I couldn't wait to see him so Don, being the sweetheart he is, snapped a picture of him in his 'ready to be shipped' bin. This is Tazz.

I am SO scared to touch him. Because of the amount of money I put into him and the amount of hard work that Don and his Wife also put into him, I am afraid that, when i pick him up, he will just shatter like glass in my hands. I can tell you guys, a million thoughts run through my head every time I think of him as to what could go wrong. OMG regurgitate, OMG heat strip will go bad, OMG he's gonna get out and I will never see him again OMG OMG OMG OMG...

I want one of those soooo bad!! We are worried because our 3 latest arrivals are not eating..one hasn't eaten in over 3 weeks because she didn't eat at the store either. But she is over 700 grams so I don't think she is missing anything..she seems fine otherwise....we have 3 more coming this week so we are hoping they are all good eaters!

You could send it to my house and I'll touch it for you.

LOL! That is normally how I feel! I don't know why this guy makes me feel so nervous other then the money issue. I rationalized to myself when i bought him that my 4H kids NEED to see the difference between dominant and recessive genes and how they act.

And thank you guys! I sure hope he doesn't have an eating problem either- that would make me become a sleepless wreck, taking into consideration how paranoid I am about him already (and he isn't even at my house yet!!!).

That's a new one!!!

You're right- it's the money issue. I've never made it past $500- yet!! Good thing we aren't into ball python morphs!!

Well- he's not a fragile little hatchling- as long as you take care of him (and I'm sure you will!!) he'll be fine! Congratulations!!!

He's amazing. I wouldnt be able to put him down I dont think :).

Just think of him as if he's any other snake - the more nervous you are the more nervous he'll be and the more likely that there'll be something bad happen...

Im soooo jealous - I think that is one of the prettiest snakes I have ever seen.

(If you're putting him in a rack, you _could_ set up a back-up thermostat...)

I dont have anything that expensive & he's beautiful BTW, but I do have a few snakes in 1 rack that were $200 or so n that regardless all my snakes are dear to me, thus there is a back up thermostat in place in my rack just in case, definitely a cheaper 'just in case plan' to have in place, rather than the alternative. :toiletgra

Padlock on his viv. Feeding container inside another feeding container...

You know, just to be safe, you should probably just buy a second tessera!

LOL, thanks Nanci, this gave me a good start to my morning- with a giggle. Boy would I actually love a second Tess but not willing to spend the money a second time!
I think I may set up a back-up thermo, it's a good idea.

I just wish there was a 'tessera insurance policy'!

A back-up thermostat is easy and inexpensive. I really _do_ have a back-up AC that runs at the same time as my whole house AC. My house AC has failed at least twice that I can remember. I guess it was the last time that precipitated buying the back-up; now I love it.
