Russian ratsnakes, that is!! This is Igor, my male. I have a female, too, and hopefully she'll be big enough next spring to breed. They are a large colubrid that doesn't require heat, are semi-arboreal and they like water. I plan to move Igor into my 75 gal this summer with a nice water feature and branches. The female, Babushka, will move into my 55 gal, which currently houses my boa. The boa will be getting a custom enclosure. The Russian ratsnakes, elaphe schrenkii schrenki, are super friendly and you can hardly find them. I lucked out and found the male at a pet store and the female was sent to me by a breeder back east. I can't wait to breed them next year!

They are absolutely stunning! Ever since I heard about them, I've wanted one. I didn't realize how much space they required, though. I hope your female is large enough next year. I bet it would be neat to see baby Russian Rats. :)
 
They are every bit as curious, active and docile as reported. They don't require more than about a 30-35 gal, but I would like mine to feel "at home". They love to be out and be part of the action.
 
What a gorgeous snake. I had never heard of them prior to an article in one of the recent "Reptiles Magazine" issues, but the article definitely peaked my interest. Best of luck breeding them, I will definitely look forward to seeing more of these.
 
That's a nice looking snake you have there. I love the face. Good luck on the breeding project. I would love to add something like that to my collection.
 
Beautiful snake. I would be interested in purchasing one from you if/when you breed them. Please keep us up on when you decide to breed! You live just a ways down the road from me so it convinces me even more that I need to get one of those.
 
Heck, I thought she meant White Russians....hmph. Those really are gorgeous snakes, Kathy!
