Well I guess start I'll off with my name is Eli and I'm 22 years. I live in Sacramento, CA. I've been clicking around on this site like CRAZY for the last couple of days since I found it and I feel like I can't read enough. I'm not much of join and instantly ask question kinda guy. I love to learn and read as much as possible before I start asking around. I owned a garter snake years and years ago but now that I have money of my own (tight budget but able to afford) want to get back into snakes.
I just purchased this today from someone on CL for $50 and it came with a zoo med heat mat and it's wired up for a light inside but not gonna use it unless the heat is on the low side.

(Hard to tell from the pic but has the dimensions of a 20 gal high)

I'm planning on getting the rest of the stuff needed (Thermometer, substrate, etc) on Friday to get the setup ready. There's also a Reptile show this weekend in San Mateo that I'm hoping that I can get to. I'm gonna try and get my snake at the convention or at a couple of well established reptile place in my area.

Hello & welcome! What morph are you thinking about getting? You'll have to post pics when you get one. Good luck with your search & your new addition!

Welcome, If you make it out to San Mateo I'd suggest visiting the East Bay Vivarium tables, or if your into more high end corns Poppycorns always have top notch corns. Hope to see you at the show. :)

Congrats on finding the viv and welcome to the forum!

Glad to see there will be some corny people at San Mateo!

Congrats on the great CL viv score! And kudos to you for planning BEFORE you get your snake. I am sure you will be a great snake owner. Good luck with the hunt for the right corn snake.

Thanks for the warm welcome. As far as the morphs I'm not entirely familiar with them all. The ones I seem to like alot are maimi's? I think they're called. I"m not too huge on albino nothing against them I'm just more of a either real bright or black kinda person.

Welcome welcome! I'll be checking out the San Mateo show too. :D And if you want Miamis, Carol is the absolute go-to person!

Welcome! I'm in the Sacramento area, too... how did I miss that CL deal??? :D Good luck finding your new corn. I'll be looking forward to pics :)

Carol's Maimi's are awsome! If you want to get an idea about what morph you like best, this place is pretty good. They have pics of adults & hatchlings, corns can change color quite a bit between baby & adult, so it's helpful to know what both look like, to me, anyway.

Hope that helps you!

Wow that helped me IMMENSELY. Thank you so much for that link. When I first tried to see which morphs existed and which ones I like the most I found this pic at BradsWorldReptiles;

I thought the snake was gorgeous and all I could learn from the site is that it was a "Full Color Cornsnake" as they called them but now I know from what you've given me It's known as a classic I suppose. It's amazing how much they change from a hatchling to an adult. The more and more reptile people that I meet the more I'm surprised, I'm amazed how welcoming they are and how they seem to enjoy sharing their knowledge. Everyone is more than willing to help me out and I'm more than grateful. When I become a much more established member and knowledgeable I can only wish be just as helpful.

hope you find just what you're looking for. dont rule out the albinos tho, i HATE animals with red eyes but as soon as i clapped eyes on my snow kasey i just had to have her-she's beautiful!
