Alice's First Clutch

airenlow

hope is not a strategy
Alice is now a proven breeder! She had 18 "eggs" waiting for me this morning. 13 are definitely slugs, but the other 5 are questionable. Unlike her buddy Valerie, it looks like all her eggs passed without a problem. Both parents are first timers (actually '08s), so I'm not too surprised by the slugs. We'll get em next year!

Now you need some kings to eat up all those slugs!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for the 5 good looking ones.

The five look good from here. Yup, thems are slugs for sure, that stinks.

Just a bit of info for you Josh:

Mother: "Jade" 2005 Caramel het Amel, 2008 was her first year breeding
Father: "Lecter" 2002 Butter Motley

Clutched hatched July 1, 2008.

Alice is not even a full two years old yet. Dont give up on her.

Here is a copy of her info card.

I feel bad about fudging the rule of 3's by so much. It should be known that she was one of Brent's monsters and was a solid 330g. before breeding. Don't worry...nobody is giving up on her at all! Thanks for the info PJ!

Wow, a couple of those slugs look square! I'd be so tempted to incubate anyway as a just what if, kinda thing. Wouldn't it be mondo wierd if they hatched?? Some of the other slugs looked like teeth! Such an odd clutch! Congrats on the goodies and the lack of issues.

Oh I have no doubts that she was big enough to go from Brent! Just wanted you to have as much info on her as I could offer.

Dont feel bad, we all try sometimes when we might not have, knowing the outcome first.

She will do better next year. She is very pretty! I actually considered buying her back from Brent.

I just wanted other readers to know she was up to size. I didn't think you were worried.

She IS very pretty! You guys produce some nice animals. Besides the LavBlood, Alice is probably my second favorite. And she's such a sweet girl too...

They were pretty funky! It looks like they were packed in there pretty tight. Maybe that's why I could never feel exactly how many eggs she was carrying.

Best of Luck with the clutch! Wowza, didn't anyone tell Alice she's sposed to lay 'egg-shaped' eggs?
Those are the funkiest shaped ever  I'd incubate all of them, some of the weird ones could be viable

Good luck with your eggs! There are 2 that do look REALLY square, how strange/cool!

We don't do anything normal around here! :headbang:

After a week in the incubator, the 5 questionable eggs are looking pretty darn good. They are on Hatch Rite with a layer of damp moss on top. So far so good...

Day 20. One of these guys has gone bad and another is starting to get a little fuzzy. Any hints on removing the growth? The bad egg is stuck to its neighbor, so I'm not going to remove it...unless it's necessary.
