Hey i just joind this forum to get some help. I got a new corn snake a month ago. she is about 5 months old (not sure) and she is about 15 inches long and wheighs 8.1g. the first week that i fed her she ate the pinky and it digested fast. the second week i fed her and about 4 days later i fould a litle piece of pinky (wasn't sure if it was part of a mouse or not at first). the following week i fed her again and she regurgitated the whole mouse 4 days later. there was not enough heat so i fixed the issue. i'm wating 10 days till i feed her again. should i feed her a whole pinky or just a pinky head now that the heat in the tank is good?

I'd feed these meals, five days apart. The goal is to let her system recover gradually.

pink head
pink head
pink rear end
pink rear end
whole pink, cut in thirds, feed two pieces
whole pink, cut in thirds, feed two pieces
remaining two pieces
whole pink, cut in thirds, feed three pieces
whole pink, cut in half, feed both pieces
at 16g, feed two meals of 1.5 pinks, in three pieces
double pinks, four pieces

At the appropriate weight to move up, (going by the Munson Plan, conservatively, meaning let the snake get 2-3 grams over the cut off for the next step before increasing the prey size)
peach fuzzies, two or three pieces
fuzzies, two or three pieces
hoppers, slit the back and both sides of the mouse with about five slits on each side

If you can mail order Nutribac, say from Kathy Love, I'd use that on all meals for a year.

Until she's kept down four meals, I would not handle her at all. She is going to be having reduced calories so you don't want her burning those off, and you want her to be as stress-free as possible.

so today i fed my baby corn snake candy the first pinky head and she ate in no problem. i'm hoping that she will keep it down. i've noticed that she is still very energetic. is this a good sign?

Today the second pinky head was given to Candy. She kept the first one down no problem. So far she has been doing good. Really looking forward for 48 hours after the fourth meal after the regurge because i love handeling her.

Sounds like Candy is coming along. Stick to the protocol & I think she'll be fine. I am NOT an expert like some of the people here, but I do think that her activity level probably is a good sign. If she felt really bad, I think her instincts would tell her to hide & stay hidden, most animals do that when they are sick.

Thx for the reply. I was telling myself that she was fine because she was roming around and it feels alot better now that someone agrees with me. It also helps that she didn't regurge for a third time lol.

Sounds like she is on the road to recovery! Although it will be tempting, don't rush her! I'm so glad she is keeping her meals down.

Candy sounds like she is on the road to recovery. You are smart to follow Nanci's advice. I love to handle my snakes too... and it's hard not to. Give your baby the full recovery time and that will help ensure many years of handling to come. Good luck and keep us all posted of the progress.

And I would definitely keep using the Nutribac for a long time, anyway, for Candy, since she has had a bumpy start.

Hey sorry for all the questions but i have an other one. I've been fallowing the regurge protocall and she has kept all her meals down so far. I'm about to feed her her fourth feeding on monday since the regurge which is a pinky rear end. I've been keeping an eye on her and it seems that she is losing weight (you can kinda see her spine but not much and there is a rinkle on her neck). I'm not sure how much she ways but i will way her again when i can borrow my friends scale. So here is my question. Sould i give her a bigger meal? I have some Grapefruit seed extract. Should i put some in her water and if so how much do i put in there?

Forgot to mention that i don't have my nutribac yet but i will have it soon and i will use it on the next meal if i get it in time.

It won't do you much good to weigh her unless you have a scale that weighs in tenths of grams. What was the previous meal you fed? A pink rear end? If so, I think it would be okay to feed her on two thirds of a pink, cut in two pieces, but I wouldn't go any bigger than that. If she regurges again, you're in big trouble. And I still wouldn't handle her if she appears to not be gaining. You don't want to burn up her precious calories. I know it's very tempting, now that she has been okay, to feed her a nice plump pink, but don't do it. I've been through this; I know how hard it is when you want them to just grow!!

Thx Nanci. I did give her a pink rear end last feeding and shee took it fine and kept it down. I just weighed her and she only ways 6.4 grams now and before the regurg she was 8.1 grams. Like I said before, she is still active and seems to be fine besides the fact that shwe is losing weight. Should i use the grapefruit seed extract? And should i still feed her 2/3 cut in half or still fallow the protocall and feed a pink rear end again? Thx again. I'm atarting to really get worried now that she lost weight.

I don't think the grapefruit extract will hurt, although I have never used it. I really wish you had Nutribac to put on her meals. I think two thirds should be fine- that is pretty much what a rear end is, more or less.

OK thx Nanci for your help. I will have nutribac any day now so if she doesn't have it on the next meal she will for sure on the one after that. I will give her 2/3 on monday and i'll let you know what happens and if i got the nutribac or not. Thx again.
