'03 0.1 Pewter

Absolutly Perfect! Amazing snake Darin. Who produced her?

Looks like we posted at the same time, well at least you know both are comments are with all certainty!lol

Nice!!
I love the pewters~
they have such great colors~~

I am really really starting to get the bloodred bugs inme....

VERY NICE. got my first pewter this year. It was also the first one i had ever seen in the flesh. They are even nicer then they look on a monitor. I know this is true with a lot of herps. But there is something about the pewters that just dosn't come through on a moniter.

Thanks everyone! That baby is an SMR produced animal. It is the product of a pewter male and a bloodred het pewter female. The cool thing is that there was a hypobloodred produced in that clutch, so these other babies were all 66% possible het hypos too! I can't wait till she grows up, so I can breed her to my hypo bloodred male I got from Rich last year!

;)

Griffindor, you are absolutely right about the moniter not doing her justice! This snake has an irridescent, pink sheen to her, that runs up and down her whole body! :D

And this is her sister that I just bought from Darin.

I still like mine better. I want a "pewter" looking snake, not a "lead" looking snake. ;)

But they're both pretty none the less. Now, I just need people to buy off my pathetic '03 Motley Stripes to help pay off my PayPal account. =/

Anyone feel like donating to charity? I'll give you a Tootsie Roll Snake. =P

I know what you mean about wanting a "pewter-looking pewter!" LOL However, there probably isn't as much difference in the coloration of these two, as you might suspect from those two photos.

Something about taking a picture of a snake on a white background versus a darker one like the pic of Taceas' baby messes up the ability of my digicam to differentiate between light and dark snakes. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong there! :)

When I get home, I'll try to snap a couple of pics of both girls on light and dark backgrounds. In the flesh, they both look more like the pic of Taceas' baby she posted above. That's why I sent her that one . . . ;)

I kinda like the reddish-tinged pewters... do they keep that coloration as adults?

-Kat

Kat,

I don't know. Out of the clutch of snakes I got, only two of them have that real pinkish tinge throughout. They are both females, but not the only females in the clutch. So, I have to wonder what these two have that the others lack?

Given the presence of the hypobloodred in the same clutch, I suspect the presence of hypo in these gals in some way. Are they het or homo for hypo? I doubt that they're homozygous for hypo, because they do have some blck outlines apparent, but I have no real idea. Don said it seems as though it could explain what we are seeing with this clutch, and the numbers appear to be within tolerable parameters, but who knows???

Carol -

I didn't even notice that, it's pretty funny. I guess the opinion on this snake is unanimous, it's certainly gorgeous ;)

Mine, on the right above, definitely looks darker than Taceas' baby.

However, here they are below together on a dark background:

Mine, her head is lower in the pic above, is still a little darker than the other, but you can see that they are really VERY close in their coloration. Taceas' baby is a bit lighter, but mine has more of a faded pattern.

Like I told Taceas, it was VERY difficult to choose between them. All in all, a very nice problem to have! :D

Darin,
Those look great. I always knew you loved the silver looking snakes...To me it almost looks kinda silver and black;) your favorite colors
