1.0 Strawberry Lavender Aztec '09

marinneli

Just lovin' Cubes!
I got this little fellow from Marc Vervest, and he sure deserves his own progression thread. :)
The teeny-weeny one is '09 but I guess he's from late '09...and/or maybe from a second clutch...because he is TINY! I've never seen a "yearling" so small! I didn't want to stress him with weighing, but I wanted to immediately test if he'd take a small pinky. And he did. Yay! I hope he keeps it in and proves to be a good eater even though the size (and skinnyness) might make one think otherwise...

There's already some coral and pink colouring creeping in. :D

He's an interesting fellow! His pattern is really nice, and his coloration is different enough from a lavendar to be quite intriguing. I'll enjoy watching this one grow, Marinelli. What are your plans for this fellow? Is there a female strawberry lavendar?

Thank you all. :)

What are your plans for this fellow? Is there a female strawberry lavendar?

Unfortunately this is the first and only known specimen in Finland with Strawberry gene. Meaning that it's the only one that was sold with a Strawberry label on it.

The other possible Strawberry-somethings around here are two SMR Coral females one of which I just happen to have here at my place right now. If these Corals indeed are Strawberry Snows I'll have a fun breeding ahead: producing Strawberries and maybe Strawberry Aztecs het. Amel, Anery, Lavender.

The only thing worrying me right now is that should I trust the Coral female to be homo strawberry or not? It is very pale for a SMR Coral and for what we already know of Strawberry: a) it may cause pink colouring even when heterozygous and b) it's codominant with hypo so hypo+strawberry causes something in between of a Strawberry and Hypo A.

So I have no clue what kind of snow this SMR Coral of mine eventually is: homo strawberry, hypo+strawberry, het. strawberry...or what?

But I'll have time to think things through. This little bloke needs time (and lots of food) growing up. :D

It was indeed a late clutch and above on that a slow starter .
Being born on the top of the season on feeding en cleaning is not always an advantage . Besides he was marked as a keeper , so there was no hurry to hurry him .

Strawberry is really interesting, IMHO. It's fascinating to hear about all the projects to unravel its effects. It sounds like one of those future project will be in your hands, Marinelli.

What's this little darling's name?

That's what I thought. Thanks for confirming it. :)
And THANK YOU for letting me have this awesome little dude!!! :D
