14 days after her shed...should I be worried?

Cornflake1

The Crazy Snake Lady! :-)
My big girl Cornflake is possibly expecting her first clutch. I say possibly because after being with a male, she then shed a few weeks later which I treated as her pre egg-laying shed. I placed a lay box in the next day and now on day 14, still no eggs. She looks a little swollen around the vent but I can't see any diference anywhere else. I have tried having a feel as she went through my fingers but couldn't feel anything. Out of all my adult corns, she is the biggest and I couldn't imagine the eggs being anywhere near the size of her girth.
How long shall I leave her before worrying?
Is there another way I could check to find out for sure that she is actually pregnant?
Thanks in advance!

Better safe then sorry I say I'd leave the shed box in there. I wouldn't worry either she is pregnant or she isn't. just make sure she has a shed box in there. If for some reason she wasn't fertile she could absorb the eggs or lay slugs. I would like to think you could tell if she is pregnant just by looking at her belly if they are flat all the way down not pregnant if they seem to stick out in a noticeable lump from 2/3 back to the vent then yeah your probably gonna see some eggs. good luck and hope this helps.

If she is around 35 days after being bred (give or take), then you may expect her to be due to lay her eggs. Sometimes, however, a female will shed earlier than expected and not lay her eggs until possibly after her next shed. And, there is the possibility that she is not graved, despite successful matings. I currently have at least 2 females that could be following either of these situations.

We had a corn that took almost three weeks to lay her eggs after she shed. We knew she was pregnant because she got resless and we could feel the eggs in her belly as she glided through our hands. They will come in their own time...just keep the box in just in case. You want her to me as comfortable as possible.

Thanks, I'm feeling a little more relaxed now! Time will tell I guess. The other thing is that since she shed, I havn't fed her, so if i'm assuming she is expecting and am waiting for nothing, she has had no food! :-( poor thing!

Yeah, not need to get worried. I have one that took 22 days last year and 19 days this year, they don't always do what is "normal".
