I read that it usually takes 5-6 weeks between mating and laying. But this year, two of our corns laid 2 months after being with a male. Our third female is laying right now, but she fits into the 5-6 window between breeding.
My husband's bred for the last 3 or 4 years, but always allowed the snakes to cohab. We just broke cohabbing 2-2.5 months ago for the corns. So he's never observed the time period between breeding and laying until this year.
We bought a pair (amel female, green snow male) and two months after we purchased them, the female laid. We seperated them a few days after purchase. The second female- a normal stripe- was mis-sexed two years ago and was co-habbing w/ a male this year when we seperated them. He prolapsed, and we thought it was because he tried to breed with a male. A little over two months later, "he" laid 8 eggs- half were infertile and half would have been good if we'd been prepared. She's now laid 8 more, but has 3 left to lay. About half are still infertile.
Should we expect the eggs not to hatch since they were laid late? Or is it sometimes normal?
