i use the 18x18x18 exoterra and love the front opening doors, but it's hard to keep the humidity up where i want it... and i never would have bought it expressly for the corn snake. I just happened to have it laying around when the snake needed a home
i agree with sacred, get a 20L and you'll be set AND have money leftover to decorate with!
true! I'm looking online now. I will invest and order corn snake online in the next week or so. The site I WENT TO SEEMS PRETTY POPULAR. LOLFrom what I've seen on this forum (I'm no expert by any means) a snake needs a long container. The exoterra vivs should be used for lizards, geckos, turtles, etc but not for snakes. Snakes need space to stretch out.

Exoterra's are great for small, arboreal lizards. We also use one for our arboreal snake (Amazon tree boa). I would love to get the giant sized one for our bearded dragon, Tank, to replace his old, ugly cage.
I think if you bought one of the long versions it would be okay as a snake cage, but somewhat unnecessary an expense, seeing as how a 20L will do the same thing for less money. If you REALLY want to spend the money, buy a larger size aquarium and screen lid, such as a 40 breeder, and give your corn the floor space it needs and then some.
I would never buy an ExoTerra viv for a snake. I don't even really like it for a lizard. Get a nice Critter Cage 20L with the sliding, locking lid. A 20L is okay for a baby, but you'd probably enjoy a 2009 snake WAY more, and it's perfect for that. A baby will grow into it, and will do fine if you provide enough hides. A 2009 is well-started, healthy, eating, fun to handle, not too fragile.
nice tanks! How old is he?plus for exoterra: front opening doors make it easy to access and not seem like a predator to the snake
cons: lack floor space, doors can easily be pushed open from inside if you forget to latch it, screen top could probably be busted out from inside if the snake is large enough.
It currently works out great for my <40g corn as he still has room to stretch out but he also likes to climb, but i keep having nightmares about forgetting to latch the door and him escaping.

not sure really. He came in to the store last october very small, then had problems eating until may when I took him home and got him turned around. he's probably a Late 09, around a year old now... but he's still catching back up to where he should be.
The sand boa on the right (in the 20L) is an 08 and the little tank up top is currently empty.
the sand boa was my 'starter snake'... had her for over a year before i took in the corn. he was more of a 'rescue project' than a starter![]()
Yes, 2009, yearling cornsnake.
