2nd Lava Clutch Hatched!

This clutch was due to a surprise double clutching (Okeetee 100% het Lava, 50% het Anery X Lava 100% het Anery) and sure had its ups & downs!
Eight eggs were laid but they looked rather "iffy". However, I gave them a chance and, after a bit (when candled), I found that five were fertile ... great news!
Was ~really~ hoping to get an Ice, out of these eggs, since I didn't get any in the first very small clutch of three Lavas and a DIE Okeetee.

On the 2nd, of this month, the first baby had hatched & left its egg ... 'twas a perfect 5 gram male Lava (66% het Anery).
Another baby eventually pipped, on the 3rd, and it was an Ice! Unfortunately, it had a bad bend/kink, to its neck, so I was very likely going to have to euthanize it. However, upon my next check, I found that the Ice ended up doing its own self in. For whatever reason, it had gone back into the egg and, somehow, really entangled the umbilical cord around its neck (and got stuck with head down into the egg)... thus it strangled and drowned. So sad.:(
Another baby, finally, pipped, on the 5th, and left its egg on the 6th ... a wee, 4 gram, male Lava (66% het Anery) with an unusual belly. I was surprised to see that his belly checkers are along the far sides/edges of an otherwise plain belly. As far as I am aware, there is no Blood/diffused in his lineage. I know there is ~none~, in his mother's, and don't think there is any in his father's.
The two remaining were DIE = A Lava and ... another Ice! Argh! Two Ices, within these 5 eggs, and I wound up with none.<big sigh>
The great news, though, is that it proved out my male to be 100% het Anery! ... and I am really happy to have the two Lavas.:)
So, as I said, these eggs gave me some real ups & downs.

Photo of remaining eggs after first baby had hatched. Some folks may have had worse but these are the Worse looking eggs I have ever had!

Just for the heck of it, here is the little Ice that had pipped on the 3rd (prior to suicide, of course).

Congratulations! IMO, lavas are way prettier than ice anyway! Still, sad to lose babies.

Big congrats!! I love the lava gene

Thanks Bob.:) I really love the Lava gene too.

Thanks Nanci.:) Yeah, Lavas really are prettier, in general, and I just loooove Lavas! However, some Ices can be rather stunning and, well, I do think this line would make some great looking Ices.:)

Congrats Deb!

Thanks Tom.:)
As I had stated, when the first clutch hatched, the father is the Okeetee (het Lava p/h Anery) that I had gotten, from you, some years back.
He's a beautiful big boy, these days, and ... I'm thrilled that he proved out het Anery!:)

Sorry about the "downs" but the Lavas are beauties! Good luck next year with the Ice!

Thanks Danny.:)
It is always sad to lose any baby but ... yep, I am very happy to have gotten these two beautiful Lavas from this clutch!:)
Morph odds were great, in both clutches, so I do hope that, if/when I repeat this breeding, the parents strongly pass on their morph genes again (and I pray the eggs, etc., turn out better too).
