2nd Shed for Seven

Hi all,

Well Seven of 23 just surprised me with her second shedding. Never even showed blue. She is from our Super Okeetee x Orange Candy Cane. I have seen some nice Okeetees and she is looking to be like she might be one. Let me know what you think.

She's stunning. Those dark stripes running through her saddles are strange. I haven't seen many of those on non-stripe corns so young. I have also been made to believe that most of the Okeetee lines have had as much of those stripes bred out of them as possible. For some reason, I like the stripe effect on this girl. I'd really like to see what she looks like as she gets older. You keeping her?

What is a 'super okeetee'?

I've seen a few threads where Jeff himself asked the same question. When I googled "super okeetee", I get the threads Jeff has started, and a couple of other sites where the term is used, but not explained. Correct me if I'm wrong, Jeff, but you have the breeder's name, but he got out of herps, right? Were you ever able to contact him?

Joe,

Your guess is as good as mine. I have put up a couple of post about her in the past but they have not led to much info. All I know for sure is that the mother was originally from Mike Shiver of Mike's Motleys and Mike sold her as a "Super Okeetee". I also know she is het for Amel and Motley.

Thanks Dean, yep she is the a definate keeper. I have been very intriqued by her sadle markings as well. I know why most Okeetees try to breed away from the black stripping but most of that striping runs through the background as well. Where her's is, so far, only in the sadles. She has 2 Aztec siblings (one Okeetee and one Reverse Okeetee) so I am wondering if that might be part of the reason for the markings. I will try to post photos after each shed. Hmmm maybe I should start a post with first shed, 2nd shed, and all consiquant sheds to show comparisons.

Yep that is right. Her mom came from Mike Shiver of Mike's Motleys. From what I understand he has been out of herps since 2002/3. I have e-mailed him a couple times but have not received any replies. I would be interested in the links to the other sites you found with references to "Super Okeetees".

Do a google search on the term, with the quotation marks around the two words, and you'll see. If I wasn't on a slow dial-up connection, I'd find and post them. Most references look like for-sale ads.
