4 really skinny corns

hi all

yesterday i picked up 4 little corns
i could take them with me for free because
they never ate a single prey and i wanted to give them a chance

so when i got home i placed them all seperaten in small boxes
and gave each of them a little boiled pinky mouse
(it was dead already)

and 3 out of 4 has eaten
one does.nt want to eat he is the skinnyest of all and he had a slightly shorter head than normal so maybe he wont make it

but i really hope those other 3 will start eating un-bolied pinky mice
and that they will grow up to nice big corns

they are 3 amels and 1 normal
and they are all possible het fire
so i hope there,s a male and female to prove it :grin01:

i will post pics in a week or so first they have to digest their first meal

GOod luck I hope you can get that little guy to eat. And I am sure the others will get onto regular F/t pinks since they took the other ones so fast. Maybe the people who had them just gave up on feeding them??

thnx

i think the breeder never boiled the pink,s
they give off a really strong smell when you do that

most corns start eating with this method
and then slowly shorten the boiling time
at least i hope this works with them

i would try it

i had a snow striped that refused to eat everything
dead or alive

he only ate boiled pink,s
i kept doing this to the second shed and after that he started eating normal defrozen pink,s

now he eats every 4 days :)

I have never heard of boiled pinks!
I guess that's another thing to try on my fussy lav girl.
How long do you boil them? Is it a "rolling" boil?

just 30 seconds is enough
and when they eat boiled ones you can shorten the boiling time

make sure you let them cool down enough before feeding them to your snake

Congratulations on getting the 3 feeding. Its a shame to think how many people must give up on them without giving them away, just shows with a little extra time and care they can pull through. Good luck with the other 1 :)

You can brain the boiled pink for added flavour. I had one hatched 5 months ago (By myself) that wouldn't eat. She took slight interest in boiled pinks but when i brained it to she ate it. Mind you, i had already tried this method several times.... Stubborn bugger.

If she is truly skinny i would not hesitate to force some food into her. But only if she really seems to be sliding. You can also make it worse if done to soon. But if there is no option don't wait for her to become so weak she won't recover either. I have had nice results with Rat tails. Go down relatively easy.

yeah

i just have defrozen a pink
and i DID NOT boil it this time
just to see if one of them would eat it

i first gave it to the normal
and he took it in 3 seconds :)

i never expected they would strarted eating this quick

ah well i,m gonna get some more pinks out of the freezer
maybe the other 2 will eat too

Congratulations :D I hope the others eat too. I tried giving my snows boiled pinks and they wherent having it. They wont even eat the live I put in with them last night. One killed its live and left it. I don't know what to do anymore with these guys. I'll try boiled again next time.
Did the other one eat anything yet?

i gave the other 2 a pink
they seem to have some interest but they dont have it yet

the other one did,nt eat no
ill try him next week
first he can get some rest
he can be stressy from the journey to the expo and then to me

bumer yours did,nt eat the boiled ones

here a picture of the normal
the amel,s will follow later

so it's sort of "Blanched Mickey"? A nice Hollandaise sauce on the side? :sidestep:

I heat them well in very hot water, but never boiled them. Usually they tend to explode when heated too much. Have you tried scenting with lizard? I washed and scented for 2 that refused other stuff last year and that worked. They gradually took unscented pinkies. I don't force feed the babies. I'll try all the scenting, teasing, braining, live, dead etc. But I won't force feed. If they won't eat anything...there's usually something wrong and you definitely don't want to breed poor feeders. Early breeders worked hard to make cornsnakes easy to feed and keep and breeding poor feeding response back in is something to be avoided. The two that I had to work hard with to get eating were given to a classroom to be pets.
